Very tasty clean food with perfect spice balance. This is a must eat lunch cafe Wednesday to Friday. The Eritrean coffee is the best, each cup freshly made. The dessert treats finish nicely, with another coffee of course. Check the Fridge for Kitchen takeaways. The 'Dilik' spice is a must have for the pantry.Eating here supports a great community.

I had the pleasure of dining at the Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania's Social Enterprise Kitchen last Saturday for the re-launch of their dining service and new menu post-covid.A tapas style menu, the food is a combination of your typical crowd pleasers such as aracini balls and spring rolls but with an exotic twist influenced by the kitchen staff's various cultural backgrounds. The staff were welcoming, friendly and accommodating - and the food was incredible!Their saturday same price menu is excellent value for money at only $8.70 per dish! The service was prompt and with a smile. We tried Etrean coffee for the first time which was a real treat and very delicious.I ordered each of the following menu items (to be shared between two people):1) Masala chicken spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce2) Green curry aranicini with curry mayo and homemade pickled salad3) Lemongrass chicken skewer with Etrean 'Dilik' chilli sauce4) Moroccan lamb with injera and homemade hummus5) Chicken bao bun with fresh slaw and chipotle mayo sauce6) Sweet platter (rose and date ball, baklava, and KAKA (Etrean dates biscuit)Everything was cooked extremely well. The spring rolls had a very generous amount of filling and the chicken super juicy. I absolutely loved the green thai flavour of the aracini balls. Everything was so fresh! The chilli sauce had a nice kick to it without being overpowering and the chicken bao buns and skewers were tender and juicy. The lamb was melt in your mouth and went incredibly well with the injera and hummus. The sweet platter was also amazing - the rose and date ball was a favourite of mine! While they aren't currently licensed, this is something that they are looking into. Not only is this a great cafe, but the kitchen's purpose is to train people from migrant and refugee backgrounds to help them gain employment in the hospitality industry. Covid hit these guys hard so do yourself a favour and check them out!
