The Australian plant of the GELITA Group is located near Beaudesert, which is a small town about 80 Kilometers south of Brisbane, the capital of the state of Queensland. The plant manufactures beef gelatine from fresh, hairy hide that is supplied by abattoirs up to 700 kilometers away. All of the gelatine is sold as edible gelatine, some 60% being supplied to the confectionery industry, the remainder being used in jelly crystal and dairy applications.
