Well worth the challenge to climb to the summit. I found fairly easy as I am fit and agile. But be cautious as there is no identifiable trail to follow. Use common sense and you will be rewarded. But some trees at the top obscure your view of Nelson Bay. But Fingal Bay can be seen and the giant sand dune.

From Tallean Road, most of the access to this walk is blocked by private property. However, access can be gained via a small strip of crown land between numbers 5 & 7 Tallean Road. From this strip, curve around to the right, tennis courts on the left and the rear of private homes on the right, and head uphill. A bit of a scramble, but worth it.

Happy childhood memories of family holidays spent at Nelson Bay in the '60s with Aunts and cousins and an epic cousins adventure! Climbing to Devils Chair, (accessed from Armidale Ave where my Aunty May had just build a house ) as child explorers claiming it as our own, planting a flag .never in our wildest dreams did we understand it was not ours to claim ...!!!.

Very challenging mountain hike. There is no marked path but if you go in between 5 and 7 Taleen rd or cut past 21 Taleen Rd you can use your sense of direction or google maps to find your way to the top which is well worth the climb. WARNING for experienced climbers only , if your not confident try Tomaree Mountain for a more casual climb.

A good steep bush bash climb. I took the route between 5-7 Tallean rd. But a bit unclear as to what was and wasn't private land. Must be a better way up.
