Donati's Fine Meats

Traditional Italian butcher and my favourite in the area for premium meats. My favourites are the porterhouse steak and marinated chicken steaks (ask how to cook skin side down then flip to cook other side just before it's fully cooked to guarantee crispy skin).

I had the best experience in this beautiful little shop! The best porthouse I ever had! ❤️ I will come back for sure!

The best Italian sausages we’ve ever bought in Melbourne, no contest.

My partner order a turkey and two hams over the phone. Leo was unnecessarily rude and unpleasant when she asked him a few questions about the cuts of meat. When we came in to pick up the meat, we asked him if the meat was cooked, and Leo got really annoyed and oppositional. Leo, despite you being in the service industry, you were grumpy and an absolute nightmare to deal with. The service here completely sucks. The other two dudes working there seemed miserable too. Plenty of lovely butchers around, but Leo was shocking. We ended up going to a lovely butcher in Hawthorn from Glenferrie Gourmet Meats" who talked us through the whole meal we wanted to cook."

This butcher is one of the best - Leo Donati & his son Marcelo along with their associates, are fantastic. High quality ingredients, outstanding butchery and with a delightful background of Opera, this is a real feast for the senses - before the actual feast later - from smallgoods to sausages, especially fennel & pork, to fillet of beef (my favourite) as well as sweetmeats and much much more - I like to support businesses like this because they're much more than that - they're part of our community. All of this make Donatti's Fine Meats an essential place to go for household shopping - and when you return, they will remember you.

My go to butcher in melbourne. really nice selection of sausages and really really good pancetta! i notice some of the other reviews here say that the produce is too expensive, I disagree. the people saying that are probably used to eating those $2.50 trays of sausages from coles or woolies that look like King Charles fingers.

Donati's is a true blue Italian butcher that has really good meat. I have been buying from them for years now and have never been disappointed. They smoke there own hams so have offered to prepare a leg of pork for me to smoke at home. Great service.

My god, what an experience! We returned to pick up a last minute ham for Christmas after trying some other suppliers in the last years. Everything about the experience was beyond expectation. The intense classic music, the Italian banter, the superb service and the amazing produce. No request was too difficult, it was a pleasure. It felt like Christmas should. Then the payoff when we cut the ham on Christmas Eve. Silky, salty, smokey heaven. I don't know why we stopped coming, but I do know we'll be back.

Ordered a variety of sausages that were reasonably priced. They were easily the best I've tried.Going by the quality of them alone, I can highly recommend this butcher.

You could search for a butcher that measures up to Donati's but you'll never find better!The ham that I ordered for Christmas was amazing!!! Every bit was delectable - all the way to bones, etc for soup.
