Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses - Blackburn North

I visited the cafe mid week. I arrived at 3.45pm and there were no customers in there. They had put a few chairs on the table which prompted me to ask if they were closing as on the website it said they closed at 5pm. The surly teenager said that 5pm was when the staff left, not sure what that is supposed to mean. Went to order a coffee and was told the machine was broken. I suspect they had cleaned the machine and didnt want to use it again, so just told everyone it was broken as I walked past the next morning after opening and it was miraculously working fine. I ordered some milkshakes and a cake and the lady serving was so unbothered and surly. As I sat down with my husband and kids, people were constantly coming in asking for take away coffees and being fed the line that the machine was broken. The staff member was putting chairs up all around me and then asked if I minded if they tidied up, thinking they meant they were going to do a bit of sweeping with a broom. For the next 10 minutes they had the vacuum at full blast vacuuming all around my feet and the store. We had to shout to hear over it, it was mind blowing that they thought this was OK. We didnt finish our food and drink and got out of there. The two young girls working there were in their own bubble, clearly just wanted to go home and couldn't care less about customer service. It was almost like a scene from a comedy sketch (think Fawlty Towers). In addition to that experience, there food is overpriced, completely over processed, to the point that everything just tastes sweet with no flavour and not definitely not worth a visit.

I love Ferguson Plarre but the franchise is a disgrace. RUDE, ARROGANT and should not be running a business in customer service. The swearing and abuse I have witnessed on two occasions towards both a staff member and and elderly lady has made me feel the need to review them so poorly. And don’t get me started on the extra charges for eftpos, the ridiculous signs up everywhere about not abusing staff (yet they do themselves) and not being able to bring in food from anywhere else(so hopefully you don’t have an allergy), even if your table if people is also eating their products. Can’t wait for more cafes to open at Blackburn Square because if the management of Ferguson Plarre doesn’t change they won’t last long once the competition moves in.

Wonderful, friendly and always welcoming. Coffee always as ordered. Food offering is always fresh. Definitely a welcome addition to the Centre

I ORDERED A MUD CAKE for my daughters 18th Birthday. When she cut it ,it was a gabashe chocolate cake. She hated it . I spoke to assistantant manager she said they don't make mud cakes and that her staff don't make mistakes. Well they did this time and they never told me that they don't have mud cakes any more and took my order and gave me something else. No refund unless I took the cake back. I couldn't because I had to give the guests something to eat , but the birthday girl had to go without.Assistant manager kept enforcising my staff don't make mistakes.I was never told once that they don't make mud cake any more . Have been getting mud cakes from Ferguson for 20 yearsNever going there again

I always receive excellent service from this cafe when I visit for my morning coffee. The staff are very friendly, efficient and provide great service. They also have beautiful delicious cakes available for any celebration. Highly recommend.

My son bought me a Mother’s Day cake but it was quite a disappointment for us. It was not a red velvet cake that was recommended by the staff. The cake was hard and chocolate sponge not red velvet.

A regular customer to all your stores! But I must say, the girls were absolutely amazing. From the greetings to customer service and the variety. The coffee was very nice. I will definitely be visiting with a group of friends. Keep up the great work.

Horrible experience! I had ordered a birthday cake and called a couple of days before to confirm with manager (according to her name tag her name was Desi) it would be available for when I had ordered it for. However, when that day had arrived my birthday cake had not been ordered at all according to again the manager. Two completely different stories she had told me! So unprofessional and disgraceful! I have not had this type of experience with any other ferguson plarre cafes!

Phoning from interstate for a delivery to a Blackburn address - I located Ferguson Plarre Bakehouse - Blackburn North, able to do deliveries. I found Mary and Con the owners, extremely willing and helpful in making up an order for our daughters birthday delivery. I have never been to their store but if the friendliness and professionalism in preparing and delivering this order is something to go by - you MUST go visit them. I received photos of what was delivered and not only were the they beautifully packaged but tasted delicious going by the happy faces in the photos our daughter sent us. Well done Con & Mary and wishing you much future happiness and success.

Horrible experience! Ordered a birthday cake 6 days in advance, on the day of pick up they call in the morning to say that the cake wasn’t made, only the chocolate plaque with the Happy Birthday written on it. Was absolutely fuming, no apology or compensation. Had 2 very disappointed little birthday girls. Do not EVER get a cake from here!
