I don’t normally write reviews but I felt it was important in this case to do so. I have watched this facility on the brink of closure and in dire straits. We had been promised new management were being recruited to bring about change. We had lost all confidence but decided to stay. We are happy to say that new management have done a world of good. Clinically the care and communication have improved immensely, the new clinical managers are now more experienced and well versed. The home now has an inviting buzz when you enter the building, residents are now out of their rooms and enjoying some really good activities. The change has been incredible and we now are confident in management and staff.

Noise pollutant staff organise live rock shows on a twice a week basis, sometimes in the morning, sometimes at night, always inconsiderate of the three blocks that are being subjected to some god awful elvis impersonator at a time that suits the residents of the aged car center. Staff are also rude and negligent. I live in a unit attached to their courtyard and once in the middle of winter had to spend an hr hanging on to my fence to keep a resident company as he had fallen out of his wheelchair and was complaining that he’d been on the cold concrete floor for excess of 90 minutes, unable to scale my fence I waited with him for an additional 20 minutes and called him an ambulance before some wildebeest in a nurses uniform rudely scoffed that it was all under control, I hear residents howling in the night for endone/morphine. Howls that fall on deaf ears. Would sooner send my grandparents to Dachau than to this sarcophagus of sorrow and remorse.

l am a retired RN psych/developmentally delayed and geriatric. l have noticed staff are not trained in aged care and certainly not in dementia, my overall impression is that of a poorly run babysitting service.

This home has improved in leaps and bounds in the last few months. The staff are being lead by an experienced and dedicated General Manager, who is ensuring the best quality care for all who reside here. The clinical team are also lead by two dedicated clinical managers and the improvement is evident. The residents are happier and joining in on all the wonderful activities that are on offer, the engagement is heartwarming. This home is now in the best of hands and better than it’s ever been. Well done Bupa Waratah, keep up the good work.

This home deserves to be recognised for the incredible improvements that have been made. New management and staff have made a huge shift in the quality of care for our loved ones. The atmosphere has changed immensely and the amount of residents that are out enjoying the activities and smiles on their faces tell a different story than that portrayed in the media. Keep up the great work Bupa Waratah, you all should be proud!

Too many registered nurses from overseas being employed especially in the night , which are hard to understand Bupa has over 100 residents with one trained nurse on in the night what happens when there is an emergency , the residents are being let down by this money hungry company
