Husband and I just had a beautiful visit to Gisborne Peak, on a Red Balloon voucher. On an useasonally cold and wet summers day, we were seated inside watching the rain fall over the lake.We had amazing service from our hostess Lynn, who was so welcoming and attentive. The food was excellent, and we were offered to have our second pizza cooked to take home as we would never had fitted it in with the share platter, the glass of wine each, plus the delicious desserts and coffee! The tasting platter included very generous cheese portions and a delightful creamy dipping sauce, and the freshly baked bread was amazing! We chose the BBQ chicken pizza which was tasty and piping hot. For our 'take home' pizza, we chose the Tuscan, which we enjoyed for dinner that night. The desserts were the perfect finish to our meal. My apple and rhubarb tart was so delicious, and husbands lemon tart hit the spot.We highly recommend a visit to Gisborne Peak and trust that the new owners continue the good work when they take over soon.

Nice cosy place with food that’s okay but I guess that’s the only positive about this place. 3 of us walked in for lunch and as I walked up to one of the staff member to ask for a table she rudely asked if I have a reservation. I say rude because of the tone she used, as if to imply the place was hell busy. Note that there were only 6 tables filled hence I don’t understand why she needed to ask me that question. Also note when we left an hour later the same number of tables were filled so that compounds my confusion. Also, the fish and chips was ordered and I believe it’s completely normal to ask the wait staff the type of fish they serve. The same lady got agitated and answered me with “ look I really wouldn’t be able to tell because we just use what’s delivered to us” - once again, she was extremely rude. And her reply left me bemused. You surely can tell the type of fish that is delivered to you by your supplier unless you use frozen ones which are already battered. Or maybe she could have politely excused herself and asked the kitchen staff if she didn’t have a clue. Oh well.. complete lack of pride in her work.Plain lazy service. Won’t be returning.

I was given a red balloon voucher for my birthday and so I decided to use it on a beautiful day today with my partner. We loved that we can bring our little puppy along to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We were greeted and shown to our table - the lady did advise that they were incredibly short staffed and that service may be slower than usual which we completely understood as these things can happen. At our table we noticed on the table cards, the ones with vouchers had a red balloon voucher were red and those who didn’t had a white one - I’m unsure why as I’m sure we could have ordered some items off the regular menu had we wanted to. We were given two menu’s - but not a wine-list. When the lady came to take our order, she proceeded to find us a wine list but didn’t explain any of the wines available - when attending a winery I always appreciate some information on the different wines and any recommendations. We ordered and a lovely cheese board arrived which we loved! The garlic and herb dip was to die for!! Our pizzas then took a long time to arrive and we felt forgotten about at times - the staff - they did tend to larger tables more than the smaller tables. The pizza arrived and they were lovely. We seen a staff member delivering food from the kitchen and asked if we could order a cola - this young man said no sorry you’ll need to go inside as I’m busy. We felt that wasn’t very good customer service but I understand when the pressure is on it is very hard. We waited another 20 minutes to grab another staff members attention to ask for this and then waited 20 minutes for the cola to arrive. When food arrived there was no grace, it was plopped down on a table and the waitress walked away instantly without even a ‘is there anything else I can get you?’. The experience was lovely, the food was beautiful but the service definitely let the experience down as a whole. Myself and my partner agreed we aren’t sure we would return for this reason.

Not sure why this place gets so many stars but it was not very good. The staff are not that friendly….. a warm welcome and a bit of caring attention wouldn’t go astray! The wine was drinkable but not great and the worst of all the food (pizza) was small, way over cooked and smothered in cheese like a very cheap take away. Location next to a brown pond was ok saved by baby ducks playing in the water. Could be a lot better with a bit of care and the right staff.

Stayed for three nights in the cottage. Perfectly clean, cosy and private. Quiet and relaxing. Breakfast provisions were ample. Lovely hot shower. All the creature comforts. No oven or stove, however frying pan and microwave, so made some great meals. Staff are friendly and helpful. Wild life beautiful. If you want to disconnect do visit. The reception is intermittent, so if this bothers you then go into town if you must. Otherwise enjoy been away fromIt all.

We have been to this winery a few times before as we are local and thought the location and setting is lovely. It was my first Mother’s Day and we wanted to go somewhere nice with my mum and brother and families for lunch. We saw they had a set menu for $70 a head and $25 for children aged 3-7My baby is 8 weeks old and my niece and nephew 3 and 6We were told $25 deposit. Until we saw my card was debited $25 pp including the two children! My brother got covid the day of Mother’s Day so we called first thing only to speak to the owner who was completely defensive telling me we had lost the deposit and we had lost her two seats. We still went to the venue and were put in a tent with every other family with a child. For $70 a head the food was terrible. There was a tasting platter at the start which was ok, then the pizzas were worse than frozen pizzas from coles. There was no desert menu, we were told they could just bring us a selection. The coffee machine was apparently broken and you had to make coffee yourself.,The service was rushed and we were extremely disappointed.I then proceeded to pay. I wasn’t asked how the food was, I was greeted with you lose $100 for the people that didn’t come. (Including a 3 and 6 year old) disgusting.Never once was I asked if my family was ok due to the illness or happy Mother’s Day.This is my first restaurant review, I understand there may be a defensive return but I wouldn’t go to this restaurant if you’re looking for good service and good food. The staff were nice but I believe I dealt with the ownerThe total of our lunch for 4 adults and a bottle of wine was $422. You could get much more value for money and empathy elsewhere. This was a shared grazing board, small pizza, drink and dessert and bottle of wine. This is an honest review so people are aware before booking.

Poor experience, needs a management overhaul. Waited 90 mins for our pizzas, no apology, simply the comment they are short staffed and no one wants to work anymore.Avoid and go somewhere else, the scenery is a brown smelly old pond, the grass areas are infested with bull ants and the food is below average.

Very, very good, Bob, Barbara and their amazing team have looked after us for some time over multiple occasions and have always delivered an outstanding experience. Not only that, but the product is the pick of the crop, simply first class. You'd be hard pressed to find better!
