Incredibly disappointed and frustrated after half a year at ReC, and another 3 months of waiting for this gym to open. With the closure of ReC in January 2022, the owner stated that he would not be refunding any term members who had paid their membership up front and had time left over, but offered to honour the remaining time at this gym, adding that it would be opening in mid-late February 2022. It’s now coming to late May and aptus still isn’t open, but at least once a month there will be a social media post claiming the new gym will open in “2-3 weeks”.At this point, after doing my own research, I’ve found that I’m entitled to a pro rata refund of my upfront payment according to Consumer Affairs Victoria, but the owner continues to refuse on the basis that the contract states no refunds, even though this violates consumer rights and guarantees. On communicating this with him via email, he again refused to issue a refund and promised yet another opening date which has fallen through, like every other timeframe he’s put up on social media.At the end of the day, the service I signed up for has been rescinded. I’d understand if I had left the membership, but imagine you’d paid a tradie to do work for you and they closed shop part way through, promised they’d be back in a month to finish the job after they rebrand or open their new business, and they still haven’t showed up after 3 months while saying “we’ll be there in 2-3 weeks” every time you ask. You’d want your money back because they never finished the job and they’ve delayed their offered fix for too long. Same deal.

Definitely the best gym I’ve been to anywhere local to Camberwell. The facilities are brilliant. Love the steam room. They have an in-house physio, they run classes (Pilates is SO GOOD)….& so many machines to work with. Always v clean. Michael (owner) is great! He’s always so friendly and great to chat with. I had to pause my membership for a while and it was very easy to do so. Membership fees are cheap for the quality of the facilities and included benefits like classes etc.Overall it’s a very inclusive environment & getting back into training after having a baby has been easy with the support and guidance from the team.

Exceptionally clean, well-spaced out gym with ample well maintained equipment. Staff are friendly and courteous. Excellent Pilates and Yoga instructors. After your workout, if you want a coffee that actually tastes like coffee and not dishwater, there are a number of good coffee shops close by. Would have provided a 5 star rating if there were spin/cycle classes on offer.

Aptus is a great Gym to belong to and work out in. The Staff are friendly and helpful and the Instructors are the best in the business.The Members are very friendly and there is a great sense of camaraderie.

Shockingly dishonest business owner who previously ran Re-Creation in Burwood which most likely closed down to escape consumer affairs cases and financial liability to members they stole money from. The owner Michael/Mike is rude, dismissive, lacks accountability and clearly does not care about members (only about money). After being sporadically charged during lockdown, multiple attempts of contacting the gym, Michael responds with no apology, and shamelessly puts the blame on me for unsubscribing from emails. Very odd that I had received text messages with other important news but apparently because I unsubscribed from promotional emails, they were unable to tell me I had to volunteer to opt out of supporting the gym financially." The ACCC website states "If your members make regular or recurring payments for membership and you cannot continue to provide the service

Aptus staff have been working incredibly hard to get to where they are today. The friendly staff have built a fresh and inviting gym. I highly recommend checking it out, and adding them on social media to keep updated.

It did take me a little while to adjust to the new location but now I feel very much apart of Aptus. The atmosphere is one of friendliness. Great classes and instructers. Staff are fantastic and I have made more new friends.

Great space overall very spacious and big which gives it less of a crowded gym feel
