It's free, which is a plus. Kids will have fun digging around in the rocks that have been spread out at the site. Looks like the off cuts from prior fossicking activities.

Was much better 4 years ago, when there were big piles to fossic through,Its prett ordinary atmwith hardly any piles pf rocks.also now fenced and only half the size it was.Its ok

Free Opal fossicking, great for kids as no tools required, just search a pile of rubble for rocks with bits of Opal. Park at Quilpie airport and wander 2 minutes through the scrub until you come across the piles of rocks.

Good spot at 1.5km to Quilpie. We found good color. Everything is offcuts dumped by miners.
