South Melbourne Fish and Chips

I've ordered 2 packs and none of them came with tartare sauce as included.

Ordered grilled chicken burger for $15, decided to give me schnitzel without asking me because ran out of grilled chicken, was supposed to have avocado and bacon and didn't have it. Could have made this burger at home for $5, incompetent and doesn't seem to even know what is in their own burgers. BIG JOKE, NEVER AGAIN.

Ordered takeaway via Deliveroo. The grilled fish burger was simple yet tasty and a generous size, served on a toasted large sesame bun, the seeds adding a special flavour. The small serve of chips could feed two people! The two fried Dim Sim were tasty too and not greasy.The only complaint is that the Cinnamon Hot Jam Donuts were extremely dry, like old bread; I'd say they were not fresh. Sad. Didn't think you could go wrong with donuts!I enjoyed the can of Kirk's Creamy Soda, bringing back memories of summers in my childhood.

From start to finish, a complete disappointment. My order was completely wrong and it had at least three things I didn't order and was overcharged. Once the order was corrected, they managed to mess it up a 2nd time by not making half of the order so I had another wait for the second fish and chips. My disappointment didn't stop there as when I opened my fish and chips, or lack of, they are cold and wet. Could understand if the shop was busy but it wasn't. Poor form guys

Ok service, it was a public holiday.Burgers were nice size though:Big Max was quite greasy and no taste.Grilled Burger was nice tho i added chilli.Sweet potato fries were good.Prices are ok for the area so try sone thing different.

Ordered through Uber eats but delivery was not made. Tried calling the restaurant but calls went unanswered. I hope to get a refund as meal was nowhere to be found

South Melbourne is a pricier area for take-away food, and this is somewhat reflected in the prices at South Melbourne Fish and Chip Shop. There are other fish and chip shops along Clarendon Street, making competitive options and delivering some of the same and yet different menu options. This place has the usual fare, with a few 'Asian' [their wording] inspired dishes added on.Their food quality is consistent, portions are enough for 1 person, and I have only had one bad item across a three-year span. They continued to operate during the lockdown and made life at home a little more 'normal'. Whether dining in or ordering online, they always present/package the food well and efficiently process orders in a COVID safe manner.Recommendations -Jam doughnuts - heavy texture, warm, freshly made, minimal jam, cinnamon sugar dusting - quite enjoyable with a coffee - [Pack of 4 is value for money].South Melbourne Market Homemade Dim Sims - anyone who has been to the market will grab some of these because they are incredibly tasty and crunchy. Larger than the normal dim sims, two make a great snack on a cold day with soy sauce.Fish and chips [not pictured]/potato cakes - grilled or fried - their fried options are more to my liking, as the grilled is a little like the steamed papillote fish, and I didn't like the texture - but it may be perfect for you! Come with smalls tubs of tartare and tomato sauce at no extra cost. Portion size is perfect for one, and the crispy, crunchy goodness, how fish and chips should be.Worth a try.

Great Aussie fish n chips. Fish is fresh and chips are crisp on outside n soft inside. Perfect.
