Delighted with our beautiful custom made timber fly screen door. Almost too nice to paint. Perfect look to complement our Federation home highlighting the leadlights and brass knocker. This company is a one of a kind in Melbourne. Did a similar door for us 7 years ago so glad still producing great work.

We moved into our new place about 6 months ago, and were puzzled how the previous residents had done without fly screens for 20 years. Given the timber (cedar?) windows, aluminium flyscreens weren't going to suit so we went the timber flyscreen route.Mick came out and quoted, and we ended up ordering 15 flyscreens. Given they're custom made, it took about 5 weeks from order at the start of November to install & delivery in early December which was within the 4-6 weeks that we were expecting.The flyscreens themselves came out really well, it comes as a beautiful untreated Ash product with quality aluminium mesh. The install went very smoothly, a couple of small holes and unobtrusive pegs keep the frames securely in place, and Mick cleaned up the very small mess that was made which was much appreciated. We chose to stain ours in jarrah to match our trim, so we just removed the frames, gave a couple of coats and then put them back in.A couple of months later, we're really glad we made this investment. Being able ventilate the house of an evening, without the threat of flies or mosquitoes, has been great this summer. Would recommend Mick and team to anyone who is interested in quality timber work for your windows or doors.

I couldn't recommend Designer Timber Screens more highly! I dealt with Michael and have had a fantastic experience. When I first called, he was patient and explained all the details - clearly knew his stuff and I was instantly confident that I was onto the right people! We have a 120 year old period weatherboard home and I was reluctant to have aluminium screens on our sash windows at the front. We now have custom-sized timber screens that fit in seamlessly with our home. Thank you Michael for such a pleasant and easy end-to-end experience! We're thrilled with the final result.

Terrible. Fly screens did not fit. Promised 8 weeks but took 16 weeks and only because I had to keep chasing them. Once you pay, they do not take any responsibility on their shocking workmanship. They do not return any communication

David has been responsive to all enquiries, patient during decision making process, flexible with timing, made excellent recommendations, high standard craftsmanship and installation of a specialist product into an older weatherboard home. Very happy with the process and the result.

Timber screen security door with mortise dead bolt installed to front entrance. On the surface the door looks good, unfortunately the craftsmanship is rubbish.The installed door is bowed. David said my door frame was at fault but a straight edge and spirit level showed the screen door has a 8mm bow and the door frame is true and square.The door furniture was not installed square to the door. It is a really cheap knob and keeps coming loose. The hole drilled through the door was careless work.The mortise for the Austyle dead bolt heavy duty lock is oversized leaving almost no timber either side of the dead bolt lock mechanism. The correct dimension are 70x18x85mm as per the installation instructions. The hole as measured is 80x25x90mm. That is a huge 72.9 cubic cm over size. The four fixing screws for the lock face plate are put in at an odd angle as there is not enough timber behind the face plate to secure the screws.The screws securing the escutcheon were cut short with a pair of side cutters. As discussed earlier the mortise was so large there is no timber left for the screws to secure the escutcheon. This was just plain lazy careless work. Further to this the escutcheons should have been fixed with escutcheon tie bolt fixing screws that are available from Austyle. these pass right through the door and lock.The door frame was built up to accommodate the new screen door it was glued and nailed. It would have been better glued and screwed with the screw heads capped with timber plugs.in closing, the workmanship is rubbish the door is bowed and should not have been installed. the door hardware is installed without skill. The life expectancy of the door is compromised by the poor workmanship. An important note, all of the installation work was done in my absence. Had I been present at the installation the finished result and quality would be different.
