Great introductory hip hop classes! Good mix of old and new music + high-quality, friendly teachers.

SDC has invented a new dance style no one asked for - Bikram Dance. The government and corporate sponsors gave them a bunch of money and instead of spending it on the studios, they dropped all the money on the reception and office spaces. We went from 2 fans and air con at the old Ultimo studios to 1 fan and no air con. It gets so hot in there that you easily leave numerous classes looking like you just got out of a pool with all your clothes on from shear sweat. It’s absolutely ridiculous and dangerous.Despite feedback from numerous students, management chooses to ignore and do absolutely nothing. They blame “heritage” issues for not being able to install more fans but that same heritage issue had no problems installing the one initial fan as well as not one but SIX pipped gas heaters.SDC has really gone downhill. Daryl the hip hop teacher does warm ups up for 45mins long to pad out the class. You could easily forget if you’re at F45 vs a dance class. That same teacher then spends 30mins at the end of the class to record Instagram videos for his channel when in reality he only spends 15-30mins actually teaching a sloppy routine that he invented on the spot.Management are arrogant and talk down to people with no regard to the health and safety of the paying students that they are there to help.

I've been to a few dance schools around Sydney and this one is very professional and polished but is also a bit clinical and lacks a welcoming vibe. The online booking system allowed me to book for two of my friends but when we arrived for class they said I wasn't allowed to do that, so they made my friends pay again and then wouldn't give me a refund for what I'd paid, they just gave 6months of credit.

The best location for dance classes in Sydney. Love the flexibility and ability to attend classes on a week-by-week basis without being locked in for a whole term. Classes can be quite full so recommend booking ahead!

Great selection of class. For ballet- Matthew Carey, Alex (who unfortunately left) and James Taylor are the best teachers who are so passionate and are amazing teachers!

These days it is extremely hard to park around the Sydney Dance Company, there are many new restaurants around that make it very hard especially on a Friday night. Unfortunately I was 5 minutes late for my booked in heels class that is only on a Friday night. With traffic and parking, all up it was a 90min long experience to even just get to the entrance of the SDC, which was unfortunately locked. The front desk attendant extended this time of eventually walking very slowly to tell me and another keen booked dancer we were 10/15 min late and were unable to attend. These day I usually have to work on a Friday night, so this class was a present to myself. The present ended up being a very upsetting and stressful one. With such strict entry policies and Non compassionate front desk staff, I will not be back to the Sydney Dance company. There are so many classes available around Sydney with many incredible teaches and much easier locations. I’d highly recommend to anyone to do there research before making a booking with SDC

It blows my mind that every studio at this venue has only one ceiling fan and no air conditioning. It's Australia, not Finland. How does a country that is so hot have so little cooling in a venue conducting high physical activity. It's ridiculously hot in every studio and should actually be illegal to operate as people suffer from serious heat exhaustion in the classes. Even in April when it's not peak summer, people are all sweating like pigs in a sauna. Other students and choreographers I've talk to agree and said they've complained but besides a plug in fan that does very little, management who clearly don't actively dance have ignored all requests for years. The choreographer pushed everyone back and didn't use the first third of the room because he wanted to be near the one ceiling fan. This venue that dares to call itself Sydney dance company is a joke and not worth going to or supporting.

I was so excited to do the contemporary dance classBut the public transport in Sydney happened to have major delays on the day.So I called the number provided on the app (that I booked the class through) to ask about the tolerance for my lateness, nobody answered. I called 4 times.Nothing.So I emailed explaining the situation and kindly asking to reschedule if possible. And ofc I got denied because policy is policy and their customer service shouldn’t even exist as it is terrible anyways.:’)

The teacher is very patient, humourous and great at explaining the techniques that ballet students need to know in order to dance well and prevent injury. Love studios recently renovated, while the bathrooms can be crowded with queues between classes.
