I visited GA and worked there last week so just want to make it clear to Nikki - the local guide who made a 1* review, that the GA is using geothermal energy aka heat flux from the Earth core - super eco-friendly and 100% renewable. That means lets shine until the Earth explode, dear.

There are very rich samples of minerals, rocks, crystals, fossils etc. The reception and staff are very friendly and helpful. The library is open to public, there is even a lovely mini-jurassic sandpit inside. Posts, maps, videos, demos are very informative. Pity the education centre was closed when we visited, but it looks also very carefully designed peeked from outside.

We touched the moon rock! A small but packed centre, definitely worth a visit. Absolutely fascinating for both kids and adults.

My wife and I visited the Canberra facility and enjoyed every aspect. We were amazed by the range of displays and variety of work carried out by the department. We must congratulate all staff that we met including, by accident, the chief scientist, Steve, who was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and patient.I have started to work my way through the website and hope to improve my knowledge - might be a target too far away.Your facility also has great coffee.

I cant say enough good things about this place. We took a rock in to have it inspected and all the staff we dealt with were just lovely people. So welcoming. I will be back with my kids for a guided tour. All the staff were very friendly. Even in the cafe I was having problems with my efpos card not working so a Geoscience staff member behind us offered to pay for our lunch. We didn't take him up on the kind offer and we finally got the card to work.Thank you and keep up the great work

There was a very interesting learning experience for me with respect to Earth's geology. The focus of this institution is on Australianal and it's geology. There are interactive tools and visualizations where you can learn a lot about the planet in general and Australia in particular. Moreover, the museum has a rich collection of minerals, crystals, rocks and fossils from all over the world. The staff is courteous and for youngsters they organize a number of learning activities.
