Cool, well decorated bar in Port Adelaide. Blink when you're walking past the entrance and you'll miss it. And if you miss it, you'll miss out. Great staff, great drink selection with whiskeys galore, but cold beers to quench a thirst too! Indoor / outdoor areas and rotating art installations on the walls. Living up to its name and more!

There are quite a few underrated places in the outer city suburbs such at Port Adelaide . But it does make unexpected discoveries so much more of an adventure.Studio 99 is one of those places .I just had a craving for a whiskey sour and my friend googled whiskey while we were in the Port .It was a bit of a ‘ hidden gem’ ( to quite the overused phrase ) , but anything with a lit up alleyway is quite intriguing.It was a cold night , so we went inside the bar , but there is outdoor seating which would be very pleasant in the summer .Studio 99 , we were told , was supposed to be a loft apartment , but was turned into a bar and art studio about three years ago . The current owners have had it for around nine months.The woman at the bar knew her whiskeys and was able to chose one for the whiskey sour I had been craving . My friend doesn’t drink , so she was made a lovely mocktail with citrus and mint in a hurricane glass , and she was very pleased with that .While you are sipping your drink , as it is an art studio , you also have the opportunity to look at some of the various art works that dot the place . I was very impressed by some of the local photos - and we both had a giggle at some of the paintings on the wall - very iconic Australian pieces at the time . All prices are available to purchase as well.The bathroom is fantastic ( probably because it was supposed to be a private living space ) and the atmosphere is inviting, with lots of long tables and bar stools and a small lounge area inside .They also have live music and musical bingo on Fridays , which sounds like a casually relaxing way to enjoy a few hours with a drink in hand .Definitely a hidden gem and worth taking a tripto check out if I’m the area .

I have been here on two occasions. First was a date with the husband, great proper cocktails (perfect Negroni) romantic garden vibes and chilled music. The second occasion I came with a friend for a quick drink, ended up staying all evening and enjoying music bingo. Really fun evening.I will definitely be back!
