A fantastic morning at the Hervey Bay Aeroclub to support a local charity #communityflights @communityflights. Sausage sizzle provided by Schnitzel and Ribs with the Aeroclub bar open for drinks.

Security staff at the electronic security screening station require to be more sympathetic and respectful to people with medical electronic devices concealed in their bodies and heed the proof of medical advices that are provided. This airport appears to be the worst offender in Australia and my wife feels victimised and embarrassed at each visit there.

Body scans every person resulting in massive ques for security. Also, if you are taking a battery bank you need pre approval of airline. Asked my wife to remove shirt during security (prior to bodyscan), she refused, and we were allowed to go through anyway. Terrible painful experience.

Hervey Bay Airport has a nice and calm atmosphere about it that larger airports lack. It is alot more calm and less stressful. Although it is only small it only adds to its enjoyable environment.

Is Hervey Bay Regional Airport under some extreme threat for the 6 hours a day they operate? Or do MSS Security just take themselves a little seriously? It was mildly amusing at first, until they selected our 18 month old baby for a random explosives test...! Needless to say he wasn't harbouring anything, although they didn't take his nappy off and check under there which I'm a little surprised about given all the serious frisking and pat downs going on.

Good access, easy parking and rental car pick up and drop off. Small cafe and clean facilities available while you wait. Lucky to have this. Can't wait for HVB to MEL direct.

Your typical small coastal town airport with a single kiosk / shop :)$11.50 for a chicken n shroom filo pastry.. so best eat before you head to the airport!
