2nd Fix Doors and Hardware
2ndfix supplied and installed two doors for me. The rear garage door was a simple job and it was ok. The entrance door, Crown Regal 4P (photo attached), which was supposed to be the feature of the house, ended up a disaster. After almost 2 months since the order I ended up with a $4000 door with cracks. If I were to do it again, I would choose an installer that has control over the product quality and an understanding of customer service, because 2ndfix do not! And this is why I think so:1. No quality check. They do not check the quality of the doors that they supply. They do not even unpack them before they deliver. They expect the customer the do the check. And with an unprofessional eye it is very difficult to spot issues with unsealed raw timber. So, I discovered that most of the veneer on the panels of my door was not glued properly, was bubbling up and cracking. Unfortunately, I discovered it (not 2ndfix) only after the installation.2. Weak relationship with supplier. George does not have a good relationship with the supplier of Crown doors. It took him over 2 weeks to convince the supplier that the door was faulty. Finally, they accepted it and instead of sending me a new door they only offered to repair it. A bad deal for me, because this way they door would not be sealed for at least a month!3. Very basic customer service. George believes that taking back and repairing a faulty door is “going above and beyond” customer expectations. Well, this is a very archaic view on customer service. Repairing a faulty product is a very basic fulfilment of his obligations to a customer.4. Poor carpentry. The carpenters can only perform simple jobs that they are used too. If they face a task that is a little bit out of the ordinary, they show zero ingenuity and don’t want to do it. When they reinstalled my repaired door, the barrel bolt did not fit the old hole, so they were ready to leave an ugly gaping hole above my door (see the photo attached). They only agreed to fix it when I said I would not pay them if they didn’t. Even then they did not have a solution (certified carpenters!). I told them to cut out a small piece of wood and cover the hole. It took them 3 attempts to cut a neat 3cm piece of wood. The worst part is that they did not care if it looked messy or wasn’t straight. I had to reject the first 2 because they were not even straight.5. Poor ethics. When I started staining and sanding the reinstalled repaired door on day 3 after the installation, I discovered cracks over 10cm long in the solid timber frame (photo attached). George refused to do anything about it because he said it was my fault not sealing the door immediately. By wait a second – the door was unsealed for a month while it was under repair. How is that my fault?Anyway, after 2 months of going back and forth, I gave up. Now I have a $4000 door with cracks that I had to repair at an additional cost. Not to mention all the emotional distress going through this experience. Would I recommend 2ndfix? Hell, no!

2nd Fix were awesome! I dealt with George initially, and then both Tom and Jim were great with installing my 2 barn doors. On both jobs, I was kept constantly informed with supply and installation requirements. Great communication by Di - super professional and easy to deal with. End result was fantastic - high quality workmanship - 2nd Fix know their stuff and I would highly recommend. So happy I found them!

We needed some double doors added to an open plan section of the house that made it difficult to heat and cool. After sending enquiries, Andrew at 2nd Fix was the quickest and most helpful in his replies. A visit to the showroom really helped us decide on the best option. Di kept us updated on when the job would take place, and Dan did a marvellous job of installation. We can’t wait to see them all painted!

The team at 2nd Fix Doors and Hardware were an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish. My barn door was quoted very competitively, I was kept fully informed throughout the whole ordering and install process, and the service and workmanship was excellent! The attention to detail by the carpenters was very pleasing, and they left the work site spotless! Many thanks to the whole team! I would recommend 2nd Fix to anyone without hesitation.

We would highly recommend 2nd Fix Doors and Hardware. The service has been exceptional right from when we visited the showroom. We had a non-standard sized opening where we were wanting to replace double front entrance doors. The staff member in the showroom was knowledgeable in product options and able to advise suitable choices. The person who came to the home to confirm installation was able to refine our choice to save a few dollars which was very much appreciated. As with most things at the moment delivery of the doors took some time but we were very regularly kept up to date so we felt constantly in the loop". We are very pleased with the outcome and glad we looked no further than 2nd Fix Doors and Hardware."

Was going to order off the shelf barn doors from interstate when we discovered 2nd Fix. So glad we found them! Professional service, great advice and faultless service from start to finish. Andy, Di, Cherie, George, Jim and Tom were all fabulous to deal with. Delivered doors ahead of installation so we could paint them before they were hung which made things much easier for us. Responded to texts and provided advice over the weekend and even gave us large sheets of cardboard to protect our floors during kitchen renovations that had nothing to do with them. Really felt they cared about what mattered to us. Fabulous workmanship and best customer service I’ve had in years. Can’t recommend 2nd Fix highly enough.

In 2013 my wife Alex and I bought a colonial style house built in 1976. The laundry door opened inwards, into an already small room, and the back door opened outwards, preventing us from installing a screen. Alex found 2nd Fix on Facebook and gave them a call. They came out and rehung the doors so the laundry door opened outwards, saving us a lot of space, and the back door opened inwards, allowing us to install a crim proof screen. The carpenter from 2nd Fix did a great job and the house kept its original colonial look.Fast forward a few years and we've replaced all the aged colonial style timber sash windows with double glazed Rylock aluminium frame windows. Now it's time to replace those two external doors! We called 2nd Fix and dropped by their showroom on Churchill Road. They're coming out to replace both doors, the laundry door with a clear laminate glazing in the top half and a dog flap in the bottom half, and the back door with a full length glazing with a venetian blind sandwiched between two pieces of glass. This time they're also installing a timber framed full length glass door between the dining room and the stair well. We're getting 2nd Fix to come back for the second stage of our renovations because their chippies are skilled and friendly. Not just another door selling franchise.Well, in the end we got them to come back and replace all three external doors and nine internal doors! Now there's only one original door left, and we'll replace that in another few years when we do some more renovations. The two internal glass doors look great. They open into the stairwell, along with the glass front door. I've attached photos of them, as well as the laundry door and back door. We're very happy with the workmanship again.

From our experience everything was great and would recommend them highly. From George doing the quote with great suggestions for our non standard opening to Jim doing the workmanship - everything is aligned sealed well and just a small touch but adds to the service - everything was cleaned up after properly - even though was 6pm - Jim didn't want to leave until all mess was cleaned - as i said from our experience would highly recommend
