Old Hobart Town, also known as the Model Village, is a historical theme park located in the town of Richmond, Tasmania, Australia. The park is designed to replicate a colonial-era town, featuring over 50 buildings and more than 400 miniature figures depicting life in early 19th-century Tasmania. The park includes a range of exhibits and activities, including a model of the Hobart Town settlement as it appeared in 1820, complete with streets, buildings, and ships. Visitors can also explore a replica of a 19th-century prison, a court house, a blacksmith's forge, and a range of other buildings, each with displays of period clothing, tools, and household items. In addition to the exhibits, the park also offers activities such as archery, mini-golf, and horse-drawn carriage rides. The park is open to visitors of all ages and is a popular destination for families, school groups, and tourists interested in the history of Tasmania and Australia.

Really lovely quaint village. Been here twice. Enjoyed some watercolour painting of the stone bridge. Very therapeutic.Enjoyed exploring the shops, crafts and Galleries. Bit odd seeing Highland cattle and silver fern souvenirs (?)Sad to witness shop lifting in a wonderful clothing shop off the main street. To that thieving young woman. Shame on you.

I love this concept of trying to portrait the history of the town, its people and their settlement. I thoroughly enjoyed as if i was watching a short movie. Don’t forget to check out the information board with a question to find some people in the model. If possible, my recommendation in the future would be to upgrade it with some sound effects and live motion. This would make it more enjoyable.

I love stumbling across unique attractions like Old Hobart Town. You can tell a lot of research and effort was put into this endeavour. It would be great if there was a digital element (similar to Mona) and QR code for deeper interaction with each model. The price is expensive but understandable given the effort involved. The gift shop needs some work rather than just being knick knacks.

Some much time and effort went into displaying this historic Hobart town. The history is so rich and detailed and really makes you feel immersed in the moment. The dedication taken into creating this can truly be appreciated and highly recommended this as a must visit place in Tasmania.

Old Hobart Town
See old Hobart from a different perspective. We met the owner who was lovely and explained how he spent 3 years building the town that represented Hobart in 1820. The miniature models were accompanied with signs that explained the history of different part of Hobart. The whole thing took about 20-30 mins for our family to go through. A small gift shop is featured at the front and there are toilets available as well. Price was fair for the whole family

Beautiful models of the old Hobart from history. It explains the story from the past, how Hobart was formed and then grew after being stagnant for a few years! They also have a fun small game - find the objects in the model! Pretty good research and effort. Worth visiting

This place is worth the visit, enjoyed the miniature town and all the great figurines. Spent a couple of hours here, because after reading the plaques you then spend time looking at the building replicas and the laugh at some of the funny poses of the figurines. Great work! Worth the visit..

Old Hobart Town
Great historical display, really impressed with the whole setup. It looks small at first but there's a lot going on as it's a miniature model of the early city, and there are information boards around too. Worth a visit not just if you're a tourist, but also if you're into Australian history or craft/models. Entry costs $17.50 from memory and there family passes available too. It's outdoors and free umbrellas are provided.
