I have wanted to own a bookcase like this, my whole life. Peta and Bill at the Ballarat Furniture Company were wonderful from my first visit to their showroom, to the full installation in my home. This redgum furniture is so very beautiful, and their craftsmanship and service was outstanding. My room is not really square, but Bill patiently installed the bookcase so that it fits snuggly, taking extra time to do so. The remote lights, the brass fittings, the gorgeous ladder... and the friendly and meticulous service were all exemplary. I will be back and I recommend this team highly to everyone.

We have had a hand made one off peice of furniture made beyond expectations. And although at the beginning we were aware of the price . The craftsmanship and detail and knowing that we are going to have it for life more than makes up for it. The service was amazing. We recently had the pleasure of working with Peta & Bill who created some amazing items for our new home. They took the time to understand the look we were after and made some great suggestions based on their years of experience. The level of quality and workmanship in the vanities, desks, shelves, and tables far exceeded our expectations. As we were still in the process of building our new home there were a few complications along the way that Bill did an exceptional job of navigating and going above and beyond with the level of service provided. Bill is a remarkable craftsman, producing very high quality pieces with expert skill and truly beautiful design. Well worth the price for the individual attention to modifying the design I asked for and faultless service. He and his apprentices have built a remarkable set of built in bookshelves and cabinetry for me that will definitely outlast me and have added great value to the house overall.

FOREVER FURNITUREI had both the good fortune and the privilege to discover the Ballarat Furniture Company a little over a year ago. Given that my grandfather was a fine furniture maker and my father a lover of fine timber, the showroom produced many exciting and appreciative moments. Since then, I have commissioned a large leather-bound Tasmanian oak armchair and very recently, my own library room, in matching Tasmanian oak.I use the word commissioned, as Ballarat Furniture’s pieces are indeed true works of art. The company is a family affair with Peta and Bill ensuring that the journey from your initial inquiry through to delivery and/or installation, is informative, enjoyable, creative and worry free. Put quite simply, in partnership, Peta and Bill ensure that they deliver, as promised via their website, bespoke timber furniture. This was certainly my experience, with Peta ensuring that the armchair in their showroom, already elegantly designed and presented, was adapted for my personal needs and comfort and Bill, the moment I expressed doubt that my smallish bedroom could house a library, came up with a superb solution and design that included removing the soon-to-be redundant built-in robe and wrapping shelving around the cavity. The planning and subsequent installation, which occurred over two and half days and even necessitated some re-plastering, painting and relaying of carpet, was both meticulous and tightly organised. (Bill was still planing panels on site to ensure a perfect fit.!) He can be well-pleased with his efforts, as family and friends who weren’t privy to the original bedroom, are still convinced that the library was always there.I would strongly urge you to visit the Ballarat Furniture Company showroom and consider owning one of their pieces, however big or small. Forget flatpacks and timber laminates, as this is a wonderful opportunity to own extremely solid and beautifully designed furniture, lovingly crafted from responsibly sourced timber, which will last forever.Peter Chaplin
