Hammond Road Campground

Spent 3 days there total serenity few kangas.lots of birds.little bit of rain but didnt care nice clean drop toilets .

Scenic drive to access the descent sized sites, ideal for our Pod camper. A nice spot despite the severe wet weather forecast when we stayed with short drive to access nearby bush walking trails, and coastal views of Aireys inlet.

This is NOT the free campground, you will need to register and pay for your overnight stay. The free campground is 1.5-2km further down the gravel road.The condition of the road is very bad and it is a 10km ride in the unsealed road. The campground itself is very beautiful, lots of space for tents but not too many for cars/campers. It is almost safe to see some kangaroos in the morning and evening. When you are lucky you might also spot a Koala.Drop toilets are ok and if you want to BBQ under the Starts don’t forget to bring firewood, as there are plenty of fire places!

Limited space for vans/campers with only 6 suitable locations but a large grassed area for tents. 17 vehicles and vans stayed on the night of Wednesday 14th March. No water or rubbish facilities at the campgrounds. Fires permitted in fire pits only. We seen wallabies, kookaburra's, magpie's, rosella's, gallah's, fairy wren's, lizards and a koala. Unfortunately some idiots have created a bog hole just up the road but the campsite is still accessible by 2WD.

Lovely campsite with very clean toilets and tank water for dish washing. Rangers visited and were very kind. Docked one star due to the road into the campsite being very hairy to do in my campervan. Photos of the residents ;)

It's a nice spot with lot of kangaroos visiting u at night. Individual fire pits and lot of benches near your camp. The toilets were not tidy except that everything was great.

We stopped in here as we had read some good things about seeing Kangaroos and wildlife etc. And while this was true, the campgrounds were very small and cramped, with only enough space for the campers etc.Also as we'd come through in September the tent camping spots were all waterlogged and boggy. Too much water to place down a tent. The camper van area was nicely established with solid gravel foundations.Oddly there was a damn situated right above the camping area, which I'm assuming wouldn't help with the night camping grounds. Pro ably would have made more sense for this to be at the bottom of the tented area.Toilets were provided and seem to be consistent with other camps in the area.Probably a nice area in Summer, but would be crowded with little space to move around when full.

Great spot to stay overnight when doing the GOR, spaces for cars, vans and tents. Toilets available but no running water. Lots of fireplaces. Needs to be booked. Lots of kangaroos around and we saw wallabies. In the town close by you find good restaurants! Was perfect for our one night stay!

For free camping, this is just great. Good sized camping spots and sheltered! Kangaroos at night, parrots during the day. It has a toilet with toilet paper however not the most clean one of course. Definitely better than nothing.Some spots also allow you to have a fire! Pretty good.
