HillView Care Merrimac

I am sitting here waiting (6 mins so far) for them to answer. Someone answers and says they are answering from a remote location and cant tell me the visiting hours. The website says they are open. I thought I would write my thoughts while waiting to speak to someone. I don't think there is anything for the aged to do, as far as facilities go. Also I feel they are drastically under staffed on weekends. The staff member from the cafe usually shuts down during visiting hours to let visitors in, as there is no one on admin. Sometimes it is a supervisor who is normally employed there to do other things like meals. To me, this is only place that keeps you alive until you pass naturally. It sounds harsh but I wouldn't want to go to a place where you are kept alive but not enjoying life. I need a pool or even a spa. May be a pool table, bowls, something....I don't know, may be its just me and I don't understand the aged care system.

This is a beautiful facility, I was very impressed with both sites after viewing them. Staff were very friendly as well as answered every question I had.The gardens are beautiful and well maintained, great for my grandparents to walk around and enjoy.The food also looked wonderful, I like that they had a cafe on site so I can sit there with my family.After all a very clean place and would highly recommend it.

HillView Care at Merrimac has made the transition for my elderly mother into full time aged care a breeze. We initially gave her 3 weeks respite care to try the facility and see how she would go. At the end of the 3 weeks she was delighted and keen to go back in permenently asap. Every single staff member we've been in contact with from Admin, Nursing, Lifestyle, Kitchen, Laundry, & Care staff have all been amazing, very freindly, caring and helpful. I recommend without hesitation this facility.

I worked as an agency RN here and I feel very supportive and welcoming from this home. Lovely atmosphere and clinically well organized. Especially thank you Ray for your support throughout the shift.

Staff are so caring and make it feel like home. They have great activities like the bus trips and events hosted on site as well as a cute little café.

My elderly mother was reticent about entering aged care.However, she loved Hillview, the staff were so helpful and friendly,She loved bingo days, bus trips, concerts and quiz days. My own observation on my regular visits was the staff devotion to their work with the residents. I would highly recommend Hillview for your loved one.

My Mother was with Hill View Merrimac for nearly 9 years. She regarded it as her home. The care she received, particularly near the end of her life was exceptional. I have no hesitation in recommending Hill View.

I couldn't recommend a place for a loved one to become family more. I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the wonderful staff at Hillview aged care. I embarked on this new Chapter with my father with great apprehension and fear, and as if not already struggling to come to terms with the declining health and cognition of a person you adore there is the added confusion of all things government and the correct steps required to way to navigate the system. It’s a horrible time and especially when your decision making affects the quality of life your loved one lives. Enter HILLVIEW AGED CARE.. I was guided , supported and advised every step of the way, no question or concern to hard, no request to great, just a lot of compassion and care , especially from Stacey and Jo. We have been made feel welcomed as a family in total, and very much part of the Hillview community from the onset of respite and now as the choice of dad’s residence. We have been offered nothing but warmth and friendliness by everyone and all level of staff. I love the fact that dad is seen, heard and valued. I am both relieved and grateful as we start on on this new and challenging chapter, and sleep easy at night in the knowledge that dad is in fantastic hands.Thank You once again.Tracy Bass.

I recently visited my great grandma and while visiting she was handed the incorrect medication which was meant for a different resident. After I stepped in to confirm with the nurse why she was being given this medication, we established that this was the wrong patient. If I wasn’t there she would have consumed this medication which could have detrimental if not fatal consequences in some cases. After reporting this and having a meeting with Jenny at Hillview, I look forward to seeing their response and the additional measures put in place to ensure that my great grandma as well as every other resident who rely purely on these nurses to make these decisions are safe and given correct care. Understandably humans can make mistakes but it’s mistakes like this that cannot happen in these facilities. During the meeting I felt that Jenny did not seem to take this very seriously as her response was very casual mentioning that they “do their best to keep on top of medication errors”. I hope they’re able to work this out as soon as possible to avoid any residents becoming sick from these errors.
