Historic Daydream Mine

We went down into the Daydream Mine during October. It is a very pleasant drive from Broken Hill (there are creek beds and dips all along Silverton Road). We were warned not the attempt it during rain as the creeks flood and you can easily get stranded.The tour of the mine takes about 1.75 hours. We were given hardhats and headlamps, The entry to the mine is steep and challenging but even with a large group we managed quite comfortably. Overall we spent about 3 hours at the property including scones with jam and cream and Milo on exit. The underground tour was very interesting and it a tough life for those working in the mines. We were very surprised to see all the colourful flowers and it was quite lush and green in places which I didn't expect (see photos).

Excellent tour with really thorough information. Make sure you give them a call before hand because they run on availability and people keen to visit. Note that some of the tour is above ground so sunscreen and hat is worth it. You can purchase freshly baked scones for when you come out which adds to the experience! (They also had the option of a Gluten Free muffin).

Never felt so glad to live in the 21st century when I did a tour of this mine. It really shows just how hard the early miners lived. Well worth the tour, and don't skip the scones. Believe the scones hype.

This is a must do experience if you are travelling to silverton. Takes you back in time to experience how it would of been for the miners in the early days . Great for all the family as long as your ok in confined spaces for dome of the time. Set amongst the beautiful Barrier Rangers. Also the scones and jam are the best after the tour. With a large range of souvenirs and rocks and crystals for sale. Would highly recommend this place to visit . this is the real Australia out here this is a true Aussie experience.

Excellent, authentic old mine tour. Lots of history and information on how miners lived and worked back in the early days of mining in Broken Hill. Kevin is a great fair dinkum guide who’ll make sure you get a good feel for the life of an early outback Australian miner. Highly recommend this place. And make sure you get your scones.

Really well worth the visit to Daydream & Julie (scone maker) & Rob (guide) made everyone very welcome. Eftpos was erratic so have some cash. We did the above ground & below ground tours which were a real education on how thing were in the late 19th century.

Fantastic tour including underground in an abandoned silver mine. Gave a great insight to the tough life of the Cornish miners. Tour guide Rob, being a Broken Hill miner himself provided great commentary with personal insights. Worth the 15k of dirt road.

Great experience. Going underground to see how it was is incredible.Friendly reception on arrival. Signed on for the scones and tea.The underground tour requires bending over and climbing stairs, but most fitness levels will cope.Suggest ringing the day before to confirm your spot and that the entrance road is open.Takes about 90 minutes to complete.
