Pondok Betawi (Indonesian Restaurant)
Authentic Indonesian food from Betawi (olden day of Jakarta). Generous portion served by friendly and accomodating staff. The soto betawi was fragrant, creamy, and delicious. The fried fish was crispy and crunchy, very well prepared. The ayam penyet fried perfectly and top up with to die for sambal, really tasty. There are some snacks (jajan pasar) and desserts available too.

The owner was very nice and helped a first-timer navigate the menu. Ended up getting some nasi goreng and this crispy fried fish. Came with all the sauces. Will definitely come back!

I walked in and ordered a Wednesday night takeaway dinner, a nasi goreng with beef ribs and a side of curry puffs (Pastel). The service had a very welcoming, family feel. Aunty and Uncle were surprised with my preference for spicy food, completely warranted given I'm as a white as they come. Food was prepared quickly in sturdy containers. I polished off the crisp, warm curry puffs and satay dipping sauce in the car on the way home, delicious! The Nasi Goreng had the perfect level of spice for me, full flavoured and not too over powering. The beef ribs weren't fall off the bone, but the fat had been rendered nicely and meat was cooked medium. The caramalised glaze was very enjoyable and complimented the dish nicely. The cucumber on top of the hot rice and locked in the takeaway container caused it to steam a bit, so it wasn't the most pleasant, but I'm not letting that take away from the overall great experience. I'll be back for sure.

I was impressed with the authentic Indonesian food, the cleanliness and set up of Pondok Betawi Indonesian restaurant. We had a group of 7 that went there for lunch. The Resturant was quite empty at the time. Menu has a great selection of dishes for a very reasonable price and I ordered the Nasi Goreng Betawi with anchovies for $15, which was delicious and very fulfilling. It did take over 30 mins for the food to be served, but it was a very comfortable place to have a chat and wait for the food to arrive and food did not disappoint us.

The ayam goreng and beef rendang are also must-tries as is the sate served with peanut sauce. The portions are generouS and the prices are extremely reasonable making Pondok Betawi an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-quality Indonesian dining experience without breaking the bank. Overall highly recommend Pondok Betawi to anyone looking for delicious Indonesian cuisine in the Melbourne area.

The food is great! Soup wasnt overpowering and the beef in it was really tender. The Mie Goreng wasnt very salty and had a authentic indonesian taste to it. The chicken skewers had a good sauce on it and the coconut rice that came with it had peanut butter sauce which was nice and rich. Overall 10/10 for a small restaurant like this! :)

Fantastic!Here you will get the most authentic Indonesian food served by Indonesian. The place was quite nice. Not that big, but it is nice. And what make it special is there is toilet and Mushola!! Just like a big restaurant in Indonesia. Even more, the chefs and staff are super friendly. And for the foods, they are absolutely delicious and super Indonesian. It brings back memories for sure. The price just great, and all of them are halal. So, yes, this place is just a 5-star-rated with perfectly Indonesia vibe!

Many variants of Indonesian dishes here you cann find. We order ayam penyet with nasi uduk and its delicious. And nasi goreng is also quite good. But i dont recommend Soto Betawi, its far from what i expect. The soup is not the same as like in Indonesia, its taste more like tomato soup. But overall its Ok. Their service is good too.

Undiscovered gem. It’s criminal this place isn’t packed on a Saturday night. Do yourself a favour and check it out.Lovely server. Divine smells coming from the kitchen. We had a couple of entrees that were still piping hot at the table - a dumpling and a fritter, with one of the best satay sauces I’ve ever had. We ordered too many mains - they are big and easy to share. The lamb satay skewers were delicate, a touch crispy and sweet. We had a chicken Maryland dish that was heaven - a touch of lemon grass and ginger that fell apart off the bone. The Mee Goreng was heaven and the lamb nasi goreng was ridiculous - full of veggies, crispy bits of rice and similar Lamb to the skewers. All came out quickly and we had way more than enough for 3 people, so we took it home.It felt like we were in Indonesia. Food was out of this world.
