The view there is incredible, it's a great spot. Service was absolutely awesome! Cocktails are much bigger than the average size of cocktails and they were delicious as were the chips! Love that you can order, take a buzzer and hang out at the beach while your order is being cooked and you don't have to worry. Will definitely go back! Thanks guys!

One of the best dining locations on the coast. Food has been consistently great, especially the breakfast and coffee.

Date and time of visit: 15 May 2022 @ 4:00pm (approx)We ordered a Dingo Burger, Baja Fish Tacos, hand cut scallops, and small chips. The food was ok. There was a tangy taste in the burger that I found slightly off putting but, tasting the ingredients individually, I couldn't figure out what it was. Individually, everything was fine; combined, the flavour didn't quite work for me. I thought it was either the aioli or the caramelised red onion. The caramelised red onion did have a pickled taste (which I did like on its own). My partner liked the Baja Fish Tacos. She was disappointed by the scallops - they were potato cakes (a translation thing with different areas in Australia referring to them differently...NSW refer to them as scallops, Victoria as potato cakes). The small chips was LARGE. It was way too much chips for us (two people) and we ended up throwing some of it out - we could've done with a half serve (that would be priced accordingly). The interior decor was bright, clean, and looking new(ish) - feeling like something more than a fish and chip shop. The serving size of the chips and they way they were served (wrapped the traditional way in white butcher's paper) reminded us that we were in a fish and chip shop. The price point for everything was good. Staff were friendly. There's not much option in Shellharbour Village after 3pm (because all the cafes have closed and it appears only the fish and chip shops remain open until dinner/tea time). So, for what was available and the price to quality trade-off, The Sunken Spud was an okay choice for us.

Battered savs, yum! Fish, yum! Chips, yum! Potato scallops… fail! The thinnest sliver of potato in between a lot of batter, that makes for one, overpriced item of food! A decent potato scallop should have the slice of potato at least 4-5 mm thick! Not 1mm! As I said at the beginning, the other food is good, but a bit expensive! Especially the potato scallops at $2 each and you can barely see the potato in it.

Daughter ordered fish tacos and it was a generous serving, same with the chips. Recommend the potato scallops. Only fish and chip shop where there is plenty of seating inside to eat in if there is inclement weather.

Great value fish & chips. The fish, calamari and potato scallops were great! The chips are the only downside, but this is temporary. The ice cream portions are fantastic! We'll be back
