Charcoal Grill on The Hill
Very friendly and professional waiter with excellent recommendations of our steak. We had a wonderful 25th wedding anniversary celebration last night. Great food and service.

Good solid place. They do meat and they do it well. My 200g eye fillet was great quality and perfectly cooked and the salad greens and chips were nice. Wines were fine too as was the service which was warm, efficient and friendly.

It's worth trying the steakhouse. The regular scotch fillet has a balanced meat flavor and grease. wagyu's scotch fillet is richer in grease and fuller in taste. The crispy crust of the steak is commendable. The wine selection is very wide. The selection of wines sold by the glass is also very good

Scotch fillet is cooked to perfection. At least to my liking! Small menu but good for steak lover!

We had a pleasant dinner here, I would say if you are in the area, why not check them out.We had steaks and sausage, steak was cook in perfection. Chips and salad could have been more I think and the sausage was quite a surprise for us, that it is only one. Other than that, no complain :)We have always come here before the pandemic. After reading some review, it is a little bit underwhelming now not sure what have changed. It used to be more lively. But would 100% recommend them for steak if you are in the area.

The steak was cooked well, but my steak had a lot of sinew. Everyone else's were fine though. I went with a group and when we got home and split the costs, it turns out we were charged for a $150 wagyu we didn't order.

Whilst the steak was delicious there are certainly steakhouses that are better value for money. I had the marbled 300g porterhouse as recommended by our waiter which was $70 or so. There are no sauces available, they keep it very traditional offering mustard only which I am not a fan of though the steak did stand up on its own. Sides of cabbage, lettuce and chips are included but the portion size didn’t seem to change whether there were two of your at the table or four (we were four). At that price you would expect an individual serve.Service was friendly but scattered. Complimentary bread and I enjoyed the wagyu sausage entree (plenty of flavour/fat) though desserts were on the small side and there isn’t a huge amount of atmosphere. Plenty of regulars and certainly a quality meal but probably overpriced

Great place for some fine cuts of steak cooked to perfection and good selection of wines. Finished with some simple classic desserts.

After many recommendations to try this local gem, the occassion presented itself. A birthday celebration. Quiet and low key. The journey to find this charming and quaint space was an adventure itself. Street parking at the front door! Getting out of the car the street was quiet. A small group walking and whispering that they too were looking for Char Grill on the Hill.Walking through the door, greeted by friendly staff. Quiet tones of people talking. Respectful to the environment. Keeping the volume to a manageable level. Allowing you to chat with your friends respectfully (not competing to be heard).Ordering the Rib Eye, one well done the other medium-rare. A side of Grilled Vegetables. Asking for a gravy and the staff retorted “we don’t ruin our steak”. Bold statement. Let the steak be the hero! The hero it was. With a marble score of 7 both steaks were buttery. Just melted in your mouth. Simple sides allowed the meat to be the hero.A dining experience with an indulgence to the taste buds. When you can see the chefs in the kitchen, there isn’t anything to hide. My Grandpa would always say that you know a good butcher when they don’t advertise their meat in the window. This may well be true for steak houses who don’t hide the preparation process.
