The Blade Runner Newcastle

I recently ordered a gyuto knife for a gift. I rang Bladerunner to ask a question as I was not sure I'd made the right decision, and was given a helpful, informative answer. The order arrived very quickly, the second day after I ordered. The giftee was so impressed by the knife he has since ordered another knife, a santoku, for himself. I am a home cook not a professional. I was hesitant to buy online because of the lack of personal advice. I was desperate for a decent carving knife as my beloved wife thinks carving knives can be used to chop cheese on a glass boards and then used to trim the front hedge.I discovered The Blade Runner and called Leigh hoping I could get some advice on a possible purchase.I was a little astonished.Leigh was super patient and informative. His advice was based on my needs, knowledge and ability. He also advised me on the type of sharpening stone and sheath I was looking at.Best of all - his suggestions were not the most expensive solutions - so you know he is genuine!The knife I purchased was an Ohishi Sujihiki Blue Steel #2, Kuro, 240mm. It is a plasma cutter! Raw meat – cooked meat – nothing was a challenge.The knife was dispatched the day I purchased it and arrived very quickly. It was well packaged.Leigh followed up by contacting me to ensure that the package had arrived and also sought my opinion on the performance of the knife.I couldn’t be happier with the service and product but especially the personal service extended by Leigh - and will be back for other products.Thanks Leigh.5 Stars!

Excellent service. Just a home cook and my first proper knife was a Shun Premier 20cm Chef Knife. Had it sharpened and back in my hands in 15 minutes and pricing was unbeatable. Will definately be back again, hopefully next time with a few more knives in my collection. Thanks!

Leigh was so helpful the whole way through. He spent time guiding me to the perfect knife to give my partner, and assisted me choosing the right sheath as well. I was lucky enough to win the Ohishi Gyuto and Ohishi Sujihiki from a HUNTERhunter competition and they are the best knives I have ever used. I am left handed and have never been too confident with knives, these do the work for you! They aren't too heavy and are easy to control. Highly recommend!

Complete professional. From the start to the end. I've had Leigh work on my most expensive and treasured knives for a while now and he has always gone above and beyond. Even loaning me his own knives for service whilst he has had mine. My knives All get a work out every day as we break everything down from scratch. And never a problem. All of my chefs and I have also purchased from Leigh. Everything from a Saya to stones, strops, and knives. Perfect from start to finish. As a chef, I can't recommend blade runner enough. My 1st choice for all things knives, hands down.

Amazing customer service, comprehensive range, good prices and happy to answer any questions.My online purchase was sent the same day as ordered and recieved the very next day.When delivered, my purchase was well packaged to ensure its safe arrival and included comprehensive care/maintenance advice.I purchased an Akifusa Sujihiki 240mm; it is a truly beautiful knife and it is wonderful to see such artisanal offerings available to Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.I feel that good old fashioned customer service is becoming rarer in the age of internet shopping; it is very refreshing to feel like a valued customer and I will gladly be a return customer!

My wife bought me a knife for my birthday and whilst it was a cracking utility knife I have always preferred the larger chef's knives. Leigh was happy for me to switch it (new in packaging) for a larger knife. He gave me some great advice, talked me through the options and I ended up with a fantastic Hitohira Futana S3 Gyuto. Fantastic knife and fantastic service. Have since had him sharpen up my old set of Furi kitchen knives and he did a great job of that too. Would buy a knife off him again and will definitely be using him for his sharpening too. Lovely bloke and the pickup/delivery service is much appreciated too.
