Park Island Dog Park

Great safe place to take your fur babies and not a boring walk.

Great park kept very clean and tidy .

Best avoided in winter. The park seems permanently waterlogged. The storm water drains are like open sewers, and it beggars belief that some dog owners allow their animals to become covered in biohazardous filth from the fetid waterways.I've given up on Park Island for dog walking until drought conditions mitigate its swamp status. It's boggy and it stinks. The gingko trees on the east side don't do much for the olfactory senses, either. Alright if you like the smell of vomit I suppose.Please do something about drainage, council. The accompanying picture shows a part of the walkway that's pretty much always flooded, and has to be negotiated in single file. Is there an unannounced plan to turn Park Island into a wetlands?

Ideal off lead spot to socialise, walk and cycle with my dogs. Bins provided, mix of sealed wide paths and offroad (watch for tree roots). Dogs love the moat canal.

Awesome park to do running drills or practice trail running as there's a nice 1km loop track that has bit of everything.Unless I'm wrong, only toilets are across soccer field which aren't always open. Would be great if toilets were available.Only bad remark would be, people that can't control their dogs off lead shouldn't do it. This afternoon, I had 4 different dog encounters with owners who couldn't control their dogs off lead.

The best k9 park Halo & I have been to. Lots of tracks, lots of space

Love walking my 10 month puppy here off the lead for good exercise. She just loves it and meets up and chases loads of like minded dogs.It's a real shame with the amount of cycle tracks around this area that cyclists go riding fast past walkers/dogs, which the occasional dog wants to chase as it's exciting having something whizz past you..... and often hard to quickly get the dog to come back to you. Today I had my puppy chase a man on a bike before she finally listened to me to come back, and he threatened he had a knife" so I better watch out or else!I've just moved to Napier
