What a beautiful house! I had a tour today with Katherine, a wonderful and informative tour guide. It was amazing learning about the history of the area, and all the governors who resided there! Highly recommended!

I went to a Sorry day function at Old Government house in Parramatta park. It was a good day and the grounds are well cared for. I love the old buildings. There was disabled access through out and also disable toilet facilities. It's a nice place to have a meal or a high tea or just to come for a visit.

It is an amazing experience to walk through a place with so much history. The volunteer guide was truly amazing in her knowledge and experience. There was no rush, and all questions were answered by her. It's sad though how due to the Covid19 Lockdown, the restaurant was forced to close down.Hopefully it will be resurrected and more people will patronise this beautiful place

Old Government House
Well worthwhile place to visit, with lots of information about the early days of Australia's settlement by the English. The house has been kept as close to original furnishing as possible, and helps give a sense of how early settlers lived day to day. At least the well off ones....Staff are exceptional and we very much appreciated the time they spent bringing history to life.

Amazing experience if you are interested in learning about history of Parramatta. They have excluded the part where english men landed here and butchered locals, this version of history starts at 1809 when Phillip came here to find suitable land for agriculture. All the stuff inside the house is 200 years old and quite amazing to look at.

Old Govt House in Parra is a fantastic historic site to visit. The volunteer staff from the Trust are very friendly and helpful. After you enter the site, you can ask for a tour of the house and a volunteer will take you around and unlock the house itself for you and take you on a guided tour. The guides are very knowledgeable and have numerous stories and anecdotes about the artefacts of the house and history of the site. There is also an exhibition space upstairs which you can wander around after the tour, which is curated by one of the staff. Unfortunately, the on-site cafe in the barracks building is currently not open as no one has taken up the lease to run it, but hopefully it reopens in future as the tables on the veranda would make for a lovely place to have a nice little meal.

A quiant and lovely hertiage building from Colonial days, Old Government House oozes character and charm. Set in the midst of the leafy green and historic Parramatta Park a short walk from Parramatta station, Westfield's and other independent shops + the local court house, it is well worth a visit. :)

Beautiful place to visit in order to get to know a bit of Australia's history. The tourist guide, Janine, was so so nice and friendly. Unfortunately, we couldn't go into the house with the stroller due to the stairs but if you are able to hold your baby for a while, there is no problem then. If you are spending some time near Parramatta it is a good place to visit.
