Simon's Vehicle Hire

Is the cheapest place in the area to rent a car. Unfortunately the worst one. Horrible customer service ... HONESTLY, HORRIBLE! He ask you to keep your passport to rent the car. Even the locals don't suggest this guy

Simon is rude, aggressive, and really unpleasant to do business with. I made a decision to go with Simon based on price and location. It was not a wise decision. It's true you do get what you pay for --- a bucket of bolts and an exceptionally bad customer experience. The way Simon barks at you and then treats you like a freak if you ask a question is something that will leave you speechless. I would recommend that YOU AVOID AT ALL COSTS. It's a shame you have to leave a star to leave a review - he's not worth 1 star.

No problems with the truck itself. We hired it for a day, which to us... translates as “24 hours”! We picked the truck up at 8am on a Sunday, thinking it would need to be returned by around 7:30 am the next morning. But alas NO... started getting calls from Simon from approx 3pm, stating the truck must be returned no later than 5pm that same day! None of this was said when we picked it up and paid for a days hire! Thankfully we were only moving my mums stuff from Ravenshoe to Atherton... what would have happened if we’d been further away, under the belief we had more time? Wasn’t happy about this! Besides that, no other negative experience.

We called this guy for rent a car and already on the phone he was very rude and ask us a much of really personal questions. We were not ready for answer all his questions and he hung up on us for that. After my friend was call him again because we were thinking maybe it's a mistake. He said to us we can rent the car and he pick us up in the morning at our house. In the morning he showed up and said only one girl..only me - the driver, can come into the car. Feeling super uncomfortable, I asked why my friend couldn't also enter the vehicle as I am just 1 girl to be alone with this old man stranger. My friends asked if they can walk and join us at the car rental too bad he refused. Once we questioned his intentions he told us to get lost and drove away. Terrible and dodgy person with unclear motives. Avoid avoid avoid!

I have never met a man so rude and aggressive in my life.The car I hired was a heap of junk, the seat belts didn’t work, I couldn’t get the gear stick into reverse so was having to push the car out of all parking spaces and I was given a terrible key for the car which snapped in the ignition and he gave me a right mouthful for it.I will never hire from Simon’s vehicle hire again.

Simon is completely honest and effective. His cars are cheap and he is very clear about the contract and agreement to rent them.The situation of the car has been resolved for us and also for our friends. Everyone here is used to an extremely friendly treatment and Simon isn't like that... he won't hug or kiss you (believe me, I've tried, he just won’t give in)Thank you Simonnnn!! I have hired trucks through Simon on multiple occasions. Simon has been very helpful, friendly and accommodating and the trucks have been reliable and have done the job superbly for a very reasonable price. I found Simon to be a top bloke and I would not hesitate to recommend him and his business to anyone. Thanks again mate - really appreciate your help. Cheers :-)

Awful. I have never met someone who was so rude right off the bat. This guy just emanates aggression and was probably the most unpleasant person I have ever met. He holds your car and your keys and threatens to keep it and charge you in the thousands if you do the slightest thing wrong. He was condescending and patronising and even demanded we fuel up the truck a second time before we brought it back, even though it was already full.Also, the truck was terrible. It was dirty and the speed dial was broken, so we couldn't even tell what speed we were doing.Seriously, do not go here. Even if you thought that every other truck hire in all of the Tablelands was terrible, you would be better off picking one of those over this place any day.

Simon picked us up in the morning and brang us to his car rental. He was always available via phone and we were able to spontaneously rent a car for the next day. Prices were reasonable and we were able to park the car at the Barron Valley Hotel, where it got pickuped the next day. The only sticking point was that if we had an accident, we would have had to pay up to $3,200 because we were under 24 years old but probably this isn't Simons fault.

Really bad guy. He is super unfriendly and rude. I want to rent a car with my friend. We didn't had a glue what car is available and we want to see the car together. He said it is not possible. After he was screaming to us and said he do this all the time with backpacker and don't understand where the Problem is if just one person is comming. I was feeling really uncomfortable and shoked how the was speaking with us. He said a lot of bad things. Please be careful
