They roast their own coffee on site, they’re passionate about serving great coffee with friendly customer service, and (importantly for me) they have a great spot to get some work done (even with no WiFi on site).While they often have single origin coffee’s on hand, and a cold drip for you to try, they also serve a great accompaniment to their coffee…. I've been going here for at least a year now and have never been to another cafe quite like it. The key here is the lovely, awesome staff! You guys rock (and can take care in spelling my name properly - you don't get this everywhere!).The other reason to pop by is of course, for the coffee. I'm not by all means a coffee connoisser, but their blend has a unique bitterness that I know a lot of people can't quite get used to, but I love it. For the full effect go for a swiss gold - you can't often get a lovely filter as this near Darling Park.I also frequent for lunch where there's some great sandwiches and sweets on offer. I can also say I've ordered catering with these guys and have been impressed with both the quality of the food (chorizo and egg buns, mmm) and their helpfulness in tailoring the order to my needs.Do try and pop by if you haven't yet, and give the place a go.

First Impression: Somewhat clinical with the white walls and plain seating downstairs. Chalkboard with coffee order varieties is fantastic - Discover a new favourite or finally put a name to that strange assortment you explain to each new barista.Look & Feel: Not much to stay for, but do dead up stairs for extra space and privacy. Staff are all friendly, which makes up for the decor.Quality & Taste: Coffee is great and can be ordered 3 dozen ways by some quirky knickname (long black $3.00). Single Origins have been of particualr note each time tested. Coffee tends to be on the richer, fuller end of the scale (as it should be).Hip Pain: Standard city prices for coffee.Must Have: Try the 'Dirty Chai'...a revelation...great one to have hung-over (I'm guessing).

The absolute best coffee in Sydney. Anyone in the CBD needs to check out Vella Nero and ask for one of their weekly special the 'Diccolo'. It will change your life as it did mine.

The place is so nice that one feels like at home the way they serve coffee and the taste of coffee is extraordinary i always feel like going again and again to have there freshly baked cookies the best one i love is there choco chip unlike others really crunchy and good taste."

I walked in today to inquire about the coffee beans as I'm a newbie and making espresso and learning the ropes.The friendly barista there was more than helpful taking some time out to explain to be about the ideal grind, pour and how to get a good flat tamp for their bean.. I walked out with some great beans and a wealth of knowledge from her.

Nice little cafe run by a lovely team of people, owners are from NZ. Vella Nero roasts their own beans and every cup is treated with care. Breakfast options are great with the option to order Sonoma raisin and other varietals. Vella Nero also serves lunch though options are more limited.

I'm a bit mixed about Vella Nero - I mean on one hand it's really highly regarded, but I just don't seem to like it very much. I think it's probably my personal hang up with coffee being called couture and also, me not enjoying scalding hot coffee. HOWEVER. If you like being chic, and drinking good but hot coffee - you'll like the place, it does a decent short black.

I love this place. I've settled into the medium x cap, and they make a good one so its now a regular place for me. The coffees are great, they sell hungry mondays and a selection of sweet eats as well as a nice blue coloured vella macarons. Really nice people here too
