Sydney Ice Arena

Appalling. I was planning to go but read a review saying that a patron was publicly humiliated by staff for asking for their child with allergies to be allowed to bring their own food. This seemed unlikely to me, so I phoned ahead. I have a daughter with anaphylaxis; life-threatening allergy to certain foods. She carries an epipen, but as long as she doesn't eat the wrong thing she is fine. This means that when going to a new place she brings a sandwich. I asked the staff I spoke to if this would be OK; they replied that it would not. When I asked why they absurdly replied that our food might trigger an allergic reaction in one of the other customers. In case it's not obvious - this is utterly ridiculous. I am not planning to feed my daughter's sandwiches to the other customers, and the ice rink sells food themselves. I have never before heard anyone suggest that our egg-free, nut-free sandwiches cannot be allowed into commercial premises on the grounds that they pose a health risk to others. I am incredibly glad that I called ahead to confirm that yes, the staff at this ice rink have been told to (illegally) discriminate against customers with allergies, so I could laugh at them over the phone instead of dealing with crying children after a long drive out to a special treat run by officious jerks. So I went the other week....so disappointed. Staff was so rude, over priced. I wasn’t even aloud to drink a bottle of water without being told off. The place is so run down music was horrible, it was playing Katy Perry, which no one likes her. One of the staff smelt funny which needs to be fixed asap.But yeah..besides that it was a amazing experience! Xx

It's a shame for such an amazing Ice Arena that the staff have such a poor reputation for customer service. They have a rude manager and is also unfortunately an atrocious customer service provider. For anyone who is after a good time and a reputable customer service Macquarie Ice Arena or anywhere else but Norwest Ice Arena it is worth your time and petrol to go skating . Your good day doesn't have to be trashed by poor attitude and a rude manager.

They now have a list of new rules which include no photography and no food or drinks.Before you entered there was also a compulsory bag check.I will not be bring my family here again.

Asked to use the bathroom here a while back. Asked to pay to use . Kindly declined. Was promptly kicked out. Read the reviews. They don't understand the exponential relation between good customer service and a fat profit margin. I would have come here many times if I wasn't mistreated.

I went today with three children (two 7 yr olds and one 3 yr old). We arrived with just over an hour to go in the session (we were running late). I hired a plastic seal that my youngest could use to ride on and hold onto for support. I paid $15 to use this (on top of entry fee) and within that hour I was approached 3 times by different staff members to enquire how I got the seal, what time I received it and who I gave the receipt to. They all acted as though I had taken it without paying or had swapped with another customer. I wish I had read the reviews before going. The staff are rude, obviously lack communication skills even between themselves, and made me feel very belittled. Considering I paid $80, their customer service was atrocious. Plus I was told my kids could not drink from the water bottles I brought with me. I have never written a google reveiw previously (good or bad) but this experience was extremely disappointing. My kids had fun and even though this is local for me I will be driving to Macquarie Centre next time.

If there was a rating category below Poor, that will be the one I'll choose. Absolutely unprofessional to the extent that the staff were racist. My kids were invited to their friend's birthday party that was held at the ice rink. This was their first time that they have been to an ice rink. They had no practice or know how about ice skating. Both staff members in charge of the party assisted the other kids but did not help my seven year old son who fell many times.My kids were the only kids of colour in the party group and obviously ignored. My son was not even asked if he was OK after any of his falls (very disgraceful and unprofessional behaviours displayed by staff when they ignored an injured child) His right elbow is swollen and very painful as a result of the many falls that he sustained at the ice rink. When we entered the place the staff were not helpful at all and one was downright unfriendly.

Toddler under 4 years $13! Wanted to check my 2 year olds bag at entry, presumably to try to enforce the no outside food allowed" rule (everyone ignored the rule anyway). Skates were smelly
