I’ve always told people I could handle my issues and just deal with it. Saying I’m fine or I’ll be alright. I finally worked up the courage to get help just for this guy to spend the whole session trying to discredit my issues. Didn’t offer any support or alternative reasons for what was happening. Just happy to cut the meeting short and get my money

Appalling service from Dr Burhan. Excuse after excuse for not seeing a patient. Paying money for forms and then getting rejected time and time again for trivial issues. These “Drs” are meant to help people but instead invade their privacy and then use that against them for no specific reason.Who are they to judge !!!It’s an absolute disgrace! 0/10 would be a better score!

Unfortunately I haven't had a good experience here. Without any explanation or suggestion of alternative options of where to go for help Dr Burhan and Dr Al Doorie both rejected my G.P referral for an initial consultation. With Dr Burhan I got a text message declining my referral. And with Dr Al Doorie I had to follow up why I hadn't heard back and turns out he shredded my referral without even informing reception to let me know he had declined it. When you are struggling with mental health and seeking support all that is quite soul crushing. On a positive note all the different receptionists I spoke to over the last 4 months were lovely. Just needs to be some better systems in place to support those seeking help, just a brief suggestion of what to do next to get support would do wonders.

I have seen a few specialists psychiatrists and psychologists and can say that sometimes its not easy to find someone you click with. I have found a fantastic one here easy and to the point direct, no messing around which suits me perfectly.Probably the biggest problem is the wait for a first appointment, that’s a sign of how good they are I suppose. Any psychiatrist around here worth seeing has a wait list to see them. But the wait is worth it for sure.I know some people just want to make demands and get what they want from Drs, going around multiple Drs until they get what they want. When I get medical advice, I want to know what the specialist recommends not tell them what I want and try and make them go along with me. I don’t think the Dr at Shellharbour Medicine goes along with requests that are not appropriate so my suggestion is if your looking to just get tablets no questions asked then this isn’t the place for you. If your looking for a really experienced psychiatrist who knows their stuff and get help you get healthy and well, then all good.Oh and can’t not mention how lovely the receptionists are. I’ve met three different receptionists at Shellharbour Medicine now and they’re all lovely and so helpful, they get busy though and sometimes you have to wait on the phone for an answer. I tend to email them now instead.Thank you to all the staff, my life has turned around since I've been on the right treatment and it's all done with no drama and no stigma. Celebrating mental health and wellbeing, life can be tough, it's not like I would expect everything to be all good all the time in life, but mental illness on top of life is so often a resolvable problem, thanks for helping me. Great job!

Booking for an appointment at this practice was fairly easy and no trouble. The psychiatrist seemed very nice however he just basically told me everything I already knew and strayed away from the topic at hand... after this 1 hour appointment which I was told was only $200 before hand....cost me $433. It stated on the form that additional costs may apply, but $433 for an hour of nothing is utterly baffling. I understand that psychiatrists cost more due to more experience, however I will not be returning as this is ridiculous.

I'm not surprised by these reviews. I can't even get a person to speak to to ask a question. I can see the response is always that private doctors have the right to refuse service based in qualifications and needs of patients. 100 percent true, though I bet those people would love to know they need to look elsewhere, and possibly some direction on how to do it, rather than being ignored,.

Fantastic psychological service. Dr. Burhan has aided my motivation and life journey, that started with a traumatic history attached to it. Through his professional judgement and analysis I am now well on my way to my goals. Beyond grateful to have a psychiatrist like him! all reception staff are also kind and considerate

I would only attend this practice if you would like to leave feeling worse than you what you did going in.After years of mental struggle and finally finding the courage to follow through with the arduous process of being referred (including a 7 month wait list) I was left feeling belittled and ashamed of myself. It made me feel defeated. I was in tears explaining my desperation for help he showed no duty of care. There were times where he actually scoffed and giggled at my concerns. The Psychiatrist insisted that people like me" were nothing but dramatic and refused to listen to what I had to say
