Roundhouse
Roundhouse is part of the continued development of Newcastle's dining scene. New and polished restaurants continue to open which is great for the people in the city. The views from Roundhouse are spectacular, though I think they may actually be better during the day rather than the evening. The food is professionally prepared and served. The highlight were the Yamba prawns and the desserts.

We had an amazing time. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was great!Portions weren’t big, especially for the price but I supposed that was to be expected and you pay for the service and the view. I recommend booking a late night dinner as I found the view at night with the lights nicer than during the day.We had the pork belly entree, duck, and market fish of the day which was a cod. We also had their chocolate cremeux with cherry sorbet and their coconut creme diplomat with mango sorbet. We all preferred the coconut creme as it was a refreshing way to end the meal. The chocolate was a little rich and heavy for us.

Service was average, drinks were exceptionally slow. Of the 14 people on our table nobody was blown away by the meals. Given other people's reviews I was looking forward to this place but wouldn't recommend it for its food. The cocktails and drink menu were good and the view is great. I would recommend going here for drink at the bar, but save your money by eating somewhere else.

Fantastic view and pleasant dining experience. Great vegetarian option. Excellent wine list but lacking independent craft beer. Friendly and attentive service.

The atmosphere was nice and service was great, our waitress was very attentive. The food and wine was lovely, the only part lacking was the $90 wagyu cap compared to the $66 tenderloin and other dishes, didn't quite hit the mark for the price compared to the rest of the dishes we had. Would come back, had a good experience.

Stayed at Crystalbrook for the long weekend and tried their buffet breakfast. Whilst limited variety the offerings were fresh and good quality. Particularly liked their pastries and bacon. Reasonably priced for a hotel breakfast ($38pp). Staff were friendly and attentive with empty plates being picked up efficiently. Would definitely come back again if staying here.

Spectacular views, great food and service. We’ve being here several times previously and always had a great experience. Modern decor with an excellent bar, this venue is a must if you’re a visitor to Newcastle. Even if you’re a local, it’s a must. The restaurant offers seating for large groups and couples and you’ll get a view wherever you sit. We celebrated our wedding anniversary recently and also stayed over night. Whilst the rooms are small, they are well appointed and the little details are all covered. We had breakfast in the restaurant the following morning and the choice is extensive. We throughly enjoyed our stay.

Amazing food, brilliant service and Devine atmosphere. Design of the interior is very well done. The food was impeccable. Ella who serviced us was fantastic, definitely made the night well worth it. Very special place. Sure for review purposes, it’s of a pricey nature, but we’ll worth it for a special occasion.

VERY Bad Experience. Today I went to a work function high tea at the Roundhouse Hotel, We were in the coal river room.I had notified them over a week ago I was gluten intolerant and they had informed me they could do a gluten free burger with no chips and some gluten free banana bread.They brought me the gluten free burger as everyone was eating their lovely high tea sweets. I politely tried to eat it but mostly picked the salad out as the inside of the bread was so burnt (Picture included)Afterwards I asked if I could please have gluten free banana bread which they brought out. A few bites in the waitress came rushing over to say it actually wasnt gluten free. I knew as I react to a crumb that those few bites were going to mean an afternoon of extreme pain and vomiting so I ran to my car.Apparently after I left a staff member came back in to announce they were heating up some actual gluten free bread banana bread now to which everyone replied that I had to leave because of the 1st piece. The chef then apparently commented well there isn't that much wheat in it". Absolutely disgusting.I'm shocked that a few gluten free treats were too much trouble for me to join in on the high tea and that THEY GAVE ME GLUTEN. Won't be going back."

Fantastic restaurant, great views, atmosphere and decor. Service was attentive and friendly, our waiter was Sam and he was fantastic. Entree and main were delicious. Kingfish and sirloin in photos. Only reason for not getting 5 stars were the limited dessert menu, 2 desserts and cheese (none of which appealed) and the side dishes came out 5 minutes after the mains landed. Otherwise would highly recommend. Cost per person was $150 for entree and main and 2 drinks. Good restaurant for a special occasion with stunning views.
