Family own and run business, local. Lovely hotel, very clean, reasonable rate.

Good place. Beware air con is weak, wifi and TV cuts in and out. However it is clean and there are no pests.

1. Air con didn't work and we were frozen2. No spare charging point3. Toilet light flashing4. After 6pm, you are on your own✌good luck ya'll future occupants

I made a complaint but the security was more interested in sleeping. Security allow parties all night and morning. Security was called and awoken at 12am but nothing changed. A txt message was sent to security after 12:30am as the music and singing is much louder. nothing happened. Police were called. Security finally knocked on room door and advised he was woken twice and was aware police were called. Music was lowered but the party continued along with loud talking. We will never stay in this hotel again because security sleeps at night and allows parties to continue at the expense of guests not being able to sleep."

I had an enjoyable one night stay while in town for the weekend.The location of the Motor Inn is ideal, it is about half way between Nelson Bay township and Shoal Bay town as the crow flies.I found it very easy to walk to Shoal Bay as there was a path through the bush which takes you directly to Shoal Bay, arriving opposite the Shoal Bay Diner. It was much nicer than walking alongside the road.The room that we stayed in was a large room on the second floor. It was very clean and tidy and had lots of natural light.While the apartment was on the older side of things, it was well maintained and spotlessly clean. The TV was huge and modern, the AC worked well and I appreciated how well stocked the tea and coffees were - they are very generous here!.There is a nice veranda area with comfortable outdoor chairs to rest on at the front of the property. Though we didn't use them, they look like a nice area to relax and unwind.Overall, my stay was good value for money. The property looked like it was owner operated so I appreciated some of the touches that you would not get staying in a chain hotel. I would stay again.

As nice and as well equipped the rooms are, we had a pretty lousy experience there. The cement bricks used in the construction of the premises are hollow and you could hear every word the neighbours said. Good luck trying to get to sleep! Also, the WiFi was 1990's dial-up speed, slow. Would not recommend.

Older style motel but clean. 2 storey so if you are on ground floor you hear all the noises above you. You can also hear next door - especially when they are in shower. Pool is very small but well kept. Nice pot plants around to make the place look more inviting

We had two nights here and we enjoyed our stay. It was clean and comfortable. Smart TV was very useful. The condiments were an added bonus. It was priced right for us.
