Big Bro Barber Weston

The barbers do a quick and quality job. I have been coming here since I moved to Canberra. I wish there were more barbers when I visited. Sometimes, there was only one barber in the shop.

My first (and I'm now certain it'll be my one and only) experience at Big Bro Barber Weston was sloppy and unprofessional.I finished work earlier than expected and I was literally around the corner from the shop. I thought I should try them out. But... at 3:35pm, it was getting close to their 4pm closing time.I gave them a call to ask if it was alright to come in this near to closing time. I didn't want to make the staff feel obliged to stay late on a Sunday afternoon (or waste my own time).After getting me to confirm who I was trying to call (presumably ppl constantly confuse them with 'Big Barber Deluxe Weston'), the guy I spoke to was more relaxed about the idea than I expected, telling me I'd be fine if arrived by 3:45pm. He also said they would stop taking new customers at 3:50pm?Happy about being able to get in (and impressed at how customer focused the staff seemed to be), I parked and was in the door in the next 5 mins - 3:41pm to be exact.The moment I walked in the door, I was stopped by a guy who told me they were closed. Surprised, I asked who I'd spoken to a few minutes earlier who'd told me it would be no problem. The guy who'd stopped me apologised and said he didn't realise I'd spoken to someone and gestured to another man who was cutting someone's hair.Figuring the miscommunication was sorted, I asked where I should take a seat. The man I learned I'd spoken to looked pained and said 'perhaps you can come back tomorrow? Or the next day?'.The silly thing is, if he'd just had the gumption to tell me it just wasn't going to happen today, I'd have avoided wasting my time and gladly come back another time when I could get there earlier.

Friendly staff with a relaxed environment and decent prices. Would recommend.

Just my luck I think it was this guys second day cutting hair. I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience at this barber and would not recommend it to anyone. If you value your hair and want a good haircut, I suggest looking elsewhere.

I feel really awful leaving a bad review for a small business as I run one myself and I feel guilty. My normal place had shut for the day but I really wanted a haircut so I asked if they couldn’t please just do a buzz cut and to please not touch my beard. I’ve been growing it out since a fairly horrible period happened last year as a way of honouring what happened. Despite this the barba immediately went into the sideburns of my beard with the clippers and when I asked them again too leave the beard they acted like they never touched it. This was my first time and so I didn’t feel comfortable explaining why I didn’t want it trimmed as it’s personal. I am admittedly a sensitive guy but I felt as if they had betrayed my trust and then charged me for it. I am now thinking about shaving it all off as I feel like they’ve changed the way I look without my consent(plus will take most of a year to grow back how it was). This is a real shame and I feel honestly pretty horrible about it. But the place looked nice and they seemed friendly so yeah.

Its like they pull people off the street and ask them if they want to cut hair today. This kid with a ponytail had NO idea what he was doing. Atlease inform your customers you're still learning. So we can decide weather or not to continue. My longhair (that was all one length) that I ask for 1/2 inch off. He chopped off 4 to 5 inches PLUSgave me a higher then I ask for undercut. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DIGNITY. GO ELSEWHERE
