I'm really surprised by the negative reviews, we have been here 3 times now and every time we have had wonderful, friendly service and our poodle Harper has come out looking adorable and beautiful! Our dog is highly anxious and I can imagine he would be difficult to groom so I am always grateful with how kind the girls here are when we drop him off!!It is very difficult to find a salon around the Northern Rivers area that do a good job. We have tried many places, including 2 on the Gold Coast, none of which we were happy with. We are so glad we finally came across Vanessa's salon and it's well worth the hour drive from Ballina! :)

All the above ! My terrier hates having her claws clipped, and has been known to nip the clipper. Here she was pampered, and the whole process was so quick that she didn't have a chance to get upset.Curently in the process of moving to new premises, according to note on the door ... (as of Sept 2020)

My wee MrChester the Pom is looked after like a prince whilst at Vanessa's professional salon (and it is a salon!), he always comes home with a happy smile on his face, is beautifully trimmed and bathed - smelling like royalty :)I suggest that some of the more negative respondents on this review site think more about the level of expertise and difficulty involved with handling dogs of various temperaments, size and health conditions.Perhaps these groaners could attempt to carry out the grooming by themselves, in order to really understand what is involved!Keep on keeping on Vanessa -- VERY satisfied customer..(both of us!)

Vanessa and her staff were so welcoming when we arrived this morning and Freya seemed so comfortable with staying for grooming I felt reassured leaving freya in their care we are not locals. The same friendly greeting by everyone on my return to collect Freya with the added bonus of a beautifully groomed little Freya who had so much fun playing with the other clients she has been resting more than usual. I highly recommend Vanessa services to everyone.

Terrible customer service! I had taken my Moddle in for a cut & mentioned that he had some matting in parts due to me being unwell.I had managed to wash & brush our dogs hair once a week. After getting our dog home & on closer inspection I had noticed that he had been nicked & shaven on his stomach. Also the cut was not graduated from shaven to longer hair at all & that there were the odd strands that they had missed altogether as well as his nails had not been cut.I decided to phone them as I was hoping to get them to tidy up the cut & finish it properly. I was also surprised to learn that Vanessa who had give our dog the previous 2 cuts was the same person who did this cut, as the quality of cuts were worlds apart! Straight away Vanessa was on the defense saying how that was the best she could do with the state of matting our dogs hair was in & that she had taken photos to prove it. I found this extremely confronting & upsetting, so much so that nothing was resolved , no solution was offered, the whole experience left me feeling really insulted & that I was a neglectful owner, taking the attention of my complaint that it was a unfinished & rushed cut! I will never go back again & will never recommend them to anyone. They need to do less cuts in a day & not rush through them as I'm sure I can't be the only one this has happened to. Lastly be more diplomatic with there customers, find out what the problem is then see if they can fix it instead of unloading insults & blame.Not a peasant experience at all!

Review from Denis:I have been taking my dog Missy to Vanessa'a hair of the dog parlour for 7 years. I can not fault the service and the friendly staff. I would not hesitate to recommend Vanessa's business to my friends and family. I also have a small business in tweed and I try to give customers the old fashion friendly service just like Vanessa does.

I would have ranked 5 stars, but as of our last 2 experiences (always give someone a 2nd chance) it's clear there are some major internal issues. We had our two moodles groomed and one came back with it's ears clipped right back. Upon pick up, we were told they were matted beyond repair and hence shaved. They were not! The previous time yes, post o/seas hols and wedding, but cleverly groomed out. I dropped them off after having them groomed elsewhere 6 weeks prior (couldn't get in) and asked that my little one's ears not be touched. I was rudely purported in front of her other waiting customers as to why she thought they required it. Then, upon returning to work, I had a voice message to call. I did, and was further berated as to my asking for my dogs ears to be left untouched and how I had embarrassed her in front of her other customers. From memory I asked politely, she continued to elaborate by choice. She then went on to say that as I hadn't been there for 3 months I was neglecting my dogs. I didn't have the desire nor respect to inform her of our other groomer's interim visit. I don't think she's a bad groomer, just over worked and some internal stresses going on, sadly reflecting on her customer service (or lack of it). I'm just concerned that the angst will be taken out on my dogs and therefore vote with my wallet. Never again, but I wish that she could return to her previous state. For her and her business. Good luck Vanessa, I hope you find why you started this business before it all becomes too much. Thank you for your previous (-2) services.

Vanessa and her daughters provide a great groom. Pity about their lack of customer professionalism and understanding someone’s point of view before reacting negatively. Will take my dogs to another groomer who provides better customer service. Shame.UPDATE: 13Jul20Three weeks ago this incident occurred and I wrote this review hoping that Vanessa would see this as professional constructive criticism for future clients. Instead, it seems that I have hit a nerve and Vanessa has continued to discuss this incident with members of her family that I work with. It is a shame that Vanessa's unprofessionalism continues and she does not take on board this constructive advice that she should deliver high customer service towards her customers within her business.It is also a shame that her family member felt the need to get involved in a matter that one they do not see both sides of the story and two, that this matter does not and should not involve them.Let us keep it professional.

Sad when some people take to media and attack a professional business! I have been taking Molly to this parlour for 5 years now. They have always been great to deal with and I know my dog is such a handful to groom. She always comes home neatly groomed and smelling like a rose. Its a credit to them with their hard work and just wanted them to know that they do a great job and seems that sometimes you just can't please everybody all the time xx
