PappaRich Gungahlin

We were there at busy lunch time with no tables available. The staff took my name down and told us to wait outside. Then she promptly forgot about us. When I saw someone leaving, I went in to check and another girl was about to give away the empty table to another customer.We settled on our dishes and went to order. 1 dish wasn't available and we had to choose quickly for another dish. We were told by another customer that what she wanted wasn't available either!The Char Koay Teow was ok. A few prawns, some fish cake slices, ver few bean sprouts and no green onions. Mostly just a whole plate of noodles.We also ordered the Chilli Pan Mee, a dried noodle dish but ended up getting the soup version. I actually repeated to the staff that I wanted the dried noodle and she said she put a note on it. When asked later, she said it was the kitchen that got it wrong. She refused to accept that she put in the wrong order as there are 2 different types of Pan Mee and she ordered the soup version instead of dry version.Desert - Sago Pudding which turned out to be some hard custard in Sago and syrup. Way too sweet. I could only eat a few mouthfuls.

We usually eat at Pappa Rich in Canberra Centre, so we knew the food would be great. But we were pleasantly surprised that it was even greater! The Hainanese chicken was more flavourful and felt like a bigger serving, the Chicken Curry Noodles bolder, the teh tarik soft serve a real delight. And the service was top notch, friendly and smiling the entire time. Will definitely return, over and over!

Had a dinner here with my favorite dish Hannan boneless chicken rice. The chicken here is the best quantity I have ever had in Canberra! Also the staff was helpful and friendly, she suggested a coconut drink which is amazing! Highly recommended!

Honest review and not a paid one like most of the reviews here.Went there with my family. My wife ordered the char kway teow. It's the saddest char kway teow that I have ever tasted. It's BLAND. The noodles and the shrimps are tasteless. I myself ordered a fried rice that comes with papadum. The papadum is damp like it's been cooked and left outside for so long.What a waste of time and money! Not coming back.

After visiting Singapore and Malaysia, I was curious and pleased to see pappa rich in Gunghalin. We ordered the Hainisse chicken, and the chilli sauce that traditionally comes with it was replaced by sweet chilly sauce (bland and tasteless). The chicken portion was good, the rice was good, and the broth was cold. Now to the rotti beef rendang, as shown in the picture, the beef portion was tremendously small and oily; this is NOT how it is served traditionally. The rotti appeared to be a pancake that was not soft and fluffy; it had more of a croissant texture, and this is neither how a rotti should be. I hope my rating of 2 stars invites the pappa rich staff to level up the quality and care of the authentic Malayan food.

New to Gungahlin, perhaps Papparich is trying to feel like a hawker stand inside a modern commercial tenancy. There's plenty of choice on the menu, and the interior is bright and inviting. Order by itemising the menu item codes on the table's order slip. Take the slip to the counter for payment. My friend had the fish ball soup, I had the house special soup, both of which were OK. Mine had a consistent texture. We also had the fried chicken skin entrée which was nice. Next time, I'll try the crispy chicken and rice.

I ordered chicken curry noodles and nasi lemak with fried chicken. Food generally taste good especially the fried chicken. However we need more curry sauce for the noodles. Also, we’ll like more sambal for the nasi. Portion size of food is small though especially the curry gravy and noodles. Please note as feedback to the team.

Our whole family is a big fan of PapaRich so when we heard they are opening in Gungahlin - we were very excited but our experience of dining there was far from what we experienced in a city.Look at photos - Size of the meal is very small, Canai bread looks like an Indian paratha from Indian restaurant.. the one we get in a city is quite different with very round curls and soft…no soft drinks or tea was available.However the customer service was great and I did speak to one of the representatives and showed my concerns.

It’s genuinely a shame to have leave a one-star review - but let me explain. I had a pretty poor experience here to say the least. I was pretty excited to try out the new Gungahlin store as it was very conveniently located for me in comparison to the city store.The store didn’t have half the menu (roti, desserts, teas) available on the day I visited. The store is also different in the sense that you have to order at the counter which would have been fine at non-peak times, but is an absurd procedure to have during dinner times. One staff member cannot take the orders for the entire restaurant during a peak dinner time, especially when they are clearly quite new to the roll. This procedure also caused there to be blockage between the counter and the front door as the interior design of the store causes this issue (another reason why having staff take orders at table would be smarter the way they do in any other Papparich that I’ve visited). This also increased how long it took us to actually order (we were waiting in a line for about 15 minutes just to order).I am extremely familiar with the processes in a hospitality setting, but this situation just wasn’t viable without the alternatives to order online, have waiting staff take your order or have multiple registers. If the reasoning behind the order taking at the counter was to input orders into the POS system instantly, orders could be taken by staff at tables and then inputted into the POS systems afterwards just as easily.Now for the most disappointing incident that night. I had ordered the fried noodles with prawns and chicken, and was given a dish without any prawns. This was an easy mistake so I told the waiter. The waiter then took the food back to the window into the kitchen and I can very visibly see three of the kitchen staff dig through my food with their bare hands with no gloves on. To say the least, this definitely was not what I was expecting - as it is a clear violation of food safety. They ended up adding two prawns into the dish - so at least they fixed that (just in one of the most unhygienic ways possible).It’s truly a shame to see a new business start off like this - as this is the time when they’ll be observed under a microscope the most. At least the waiting staff were relatively nice!
