Ellie's Guest House

Staff were absolutely beautiful, very helpful, allowed us to have an early check in on short notice, the rooms were practical and beautifuly done up all this and located in a great area, easy walking distance to great cafes and the free ferries. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return next time we visit.

The staff were very lovely, however the room was of poor quality. There were holes in the walls and a power point in the wall was barely held in place, I accidentally knocked it lightly and it came out of the wall abit. There was a container of half eaten yogurt in the fridge. There was no tv, Air con or power points next to the bed. This isn't very important but I expected something else to make up for everything else, especially for the price. The kitchenette did have everything I needed which was good! The showers weren't nice at all, however that was because other people staying in the place weren't being respectful of others. One of the toilets stunk of pee. I felt dirty even stepping foot in there. I won't come back unless they lower their price by at least $20, as the room was not worthy of $75, let alone other prices I have seen for the place. I really don't want to give the place a bad name as the staff were extremely helpful and lovely! but I really don't think it is worth the amount they are charging for. I am using a different name as I don't want my identity out there for everyone to see.

Location was good and check in easy. Room and bed were fine. A number of the rooms are directly off the kitchen and I was kept awake by people on the veranda talking past 12am. I felt the bathroom could be set up better for guests - but the kitchen was well setup and kitchenette in the room was useful. There was no aircon in my room which could be an issue in summer. What irked me was someone knocking on my room at 10:03 to inform me the checkout is 10:00 when I was going to leave in the next few minutes.

Great atmosphere with beautiful gardens. Friendly staff. But the roof leaked. Bathrooms not neat. Occupants personal belongings stay in shower. Cramped and small shower and toilets. Asked for an extra pillow, received one. Not clean. Place need a lot of maintenance to be done.

It was as advertised, a quiet place that serviced a bit like a hostel. Nice rooms for one or two people with a well fitted common area of kitchen. There was a very nice open garden area, the rooms were tidy, mine had a sink. The location was also very good. Not at the central city are but very close to it with a 5 minutes bus or long walk to the nightlife, or 200 minutes into city. City cats and fries also choose by. AND there is a large shop collection about 200 metres away. Over all a great value.

2ND day of 4Clean and friendly, nice setting on a queenlander style house green yard established garden situated in a handy area,bus stop & Cafe out front . I've found it very central to visit all directions of the city , parking is in the street can be hilly, but that's more my issue, and I've been ashored it's safe ( no probles so far on day 3).Traffic nose I found minimal during the night.Room comfortable has a kitchenetteInternet is week, I've got better internet on my mobile phone ,The management are very nice and accommodating, it's REALY VERY NICE AND HOMELY so good I've extended my stay

I stayed here for two weeks when I just moved to Brisbane and it was perfect! Booked my own room and had everything I needed. It's spacious, clean, has every amenity needed, perfect location, secure and safe. The hosts are amazing, such lovely ladies and super friendly and helpful! Definitely recommend for long or short term stays.

Jaque and Nala where very nice and helpful during my stay! I loved my room, though not a big fan of bunk beds. The room was a good size, and the commodities were great. I guess the bathrooms are a bit old and smaller than usual but were always clean. The Wi-Fi was great. There is avaliable washing machine for 4 dollars a load, complete kitchen and a nice garden. I stayed for a whole month and I enjoyed it very much. The guesthouse is located in a great neighbourhood, very close to supermarket, restaurants and the free ferry.

I was fortunate enough to meet both Jacque and Nala during a three week period where I stayed at Ellies. Both were extremely friendly and accommodating during my time there and I always found the guest house to be well presented. In saying that, remember you are staying at a guest house, so other guests can sometimes be messy, but don't let that be a reflection of the service. I'd recommend staying here if you're looking for somewhere quite, central, homely, cheap and simple.Thanks ladies!
