Mulgoa Nature Reserve
Mulgoa Forest is a natural gem, pocketed within Glenmore Park. The forest is easy too navigate with your legs or bike wheels following established trails, or get creative and explore the wallaby runs or sneaky bike tracks ( You can' get lost its a big square, walk any way and y'all reach civilisation soon enough). This forest has it all for fitness seekers: hills, flats, straight stretches, tight bends even some water crossings to jump over! For the adventurous try the mountain bike tracks which take you up and down and through the guts of the forest, a very imitmate experience where theres a chance you'll frighten a wallaby or echidna. Big water dragons plunge into the streams soon as they hear ya, so don't be alarmed at that mysterious splash! Oh and very large to medium lace moniter lizards call the forest home too. They will be 5 meters up a tree before you can scream so just look up and admire their terrifying talons, stripey skin and flickering tongue. For the slower paced birdwatchers keep an eye and ear out for the forest kingfisher and his colourful cousin the azure kingfisher, Australian Baza, some noisy ravens, blue satin bowerbirds and their green girlfriends and yes, ( get excited) the grey goshawk! All in all Mulgoa forest has so much to offer anyone yearning to explore, get fit, reconnect with nature or escape the same old same old streets and concrete pathways of suburbia.Only bad thing: forest is not big enough.
