Grandfill Reserve

A pleasant local park, nice walk through some local bush.

Beautiful Indigenous Flora & Fauna. Calm and peaceful vibes. Open area with a picnic table. Several small walking tracks weave through the reserve; come prepared with good walking shoes if you want to explore them as parts are quite steep, and some sections are quite overgrown. This small reserve is a nice slice of bush, nestled amongst suburban streets.

This is a great reserve which is located at Webster Avenue in Croydon. It occupies 1.5 ha (3.7 acres) and is a major flora sanctuary in the birdlife corridor in Croydon. Fortunately, the reserve is managed with a focus on conservation of indigenous flora rather than for recreational purposes and they do a wonderful job.There are over 100 indigenous plant species can be found in the reserve, three of which are significant at wider regional level, with another 16 rare and significant within Maroondah. Among those, the White Stringybark Eucalypt and the Common Bird-orchid are of particular interest. Names after John Grandfill who was an early settler in the area and purchased the land at the start of the last century.Nice place to come for a picnic or a walk. Please take your rubbish home.
