Summer House Backpackers Newtown

Booked one night and told them by message I might arrive around midnight since my flight was landing quite late. They said: no problem, someone will be there till 1am, however when I arrived reception was closed, I was lucky I saw the guy cleaning and he was able to check me in, however, he was not aware of my late check in...nobody seemed to communicate that. The room, I only saw with lights off, but didnt seem as dirty. Bathrooms were renovated and not too bad, some hairs in the shower, but maybe they cleaned them in the morning and by the time I got there they were already like that. Sinks are toilets were very clean.

Good location surrounded by convenience stores and restaurants. All staff are friendly, but the facility is not clean, especially the kitchen.

Check in took around an hour and rooms were as expected but as we put our stuff on the beds and went out for the day we arrived back at 10pm and found our bags moved and other guests sleeping in our beds. Luckily we saw the cleaning guy, as the front desk was closed and he made staff aware what was happening and they moved another guest out of the room for us, we weren't checked into the room. The room was hot, had no ventilation and we had to jar the door open for a little air. We checked out early unable to deal with the heat after 2 nights of our 3 night stay to stay at the Erko hotel which was close and only about $20 more a night for a much nicer stay.

Not a good vibe and it was quite dirty, especially the kitchen. You also have to get your cutlery and plates from the reception every time you want to eat.

Beds and pillows are so uncomfortable. Lots of long term people staying here who take over the rooms. Really loud until at least 3/4am at night. I didn't sleep here most of the week I was booked in. The rooms are so hot there's no ventilation and the windows are left open so mosquitos come in. Don't stay here.

The stay of my partner and I was very pleasant, the place is nice and the attention of the staff is magnificent, I want to give a special thanks to Valentina, an Argentine girl who gave me all her support and collaborated because thanks to her everything was Much easier in this hostel. This world needs more Valentinas, thank you!!

Booked 3 night online, and added 4 more at the reception.The room were as on the photos, really dirty. I did not think people could leave like that in Sydney.I immediately booked out, and had a refund on the 4 nights I took at the reception.As for the 3 other, the firs one was not refundable (which I understand) and the 2 remaining weren't either.. I am supposed to get an email allowing a friend to sleep here two nights for free but then why would I send a friend here ?All in all it was a 120$ mistake, don't go there.

We booked a family room" with "limited availability of cots". When I checked in

Noisy room, people walking in through the night talking loud and passing through the hall with their Uber bikes!! The shared kitchen was super small and always messy with dirty dishes everywhere. The advertising said breakfast included, but it wasn't!! Also, it said smoking area" and there wasn't!!"
