Pet Birds and Parrots

I and my partner Ally bought a baby male Eclectus from Anne and Mick. He has become a much loved member of our family. We would highly recommend Anne and Mick. They are passionate and knowledgeable bird breeders, and lovely people. Our bird has had a few misadventures in his (short) life. Anne and Mick have always been happy to help us out with good advice, and comforting words. We can’t recommend them highly enough.

If you get a sick bird, the blame is on you. My husband bought me a beautiful pineapple conure for Christmas. She was delivered the first week in January, and by mid-March she was dead. He had ordered a full package, including a cage, toys, seed, pellets, and a SeedMate. We made her fresh chop daily, which she loved, and she was a voracious eater to the end. We were careful to strictly follow all of the care instructions (including avoiding using the pyrolytic function on the stove, burning candles, etc.). We were assured that she would enjoy playing with her toys and would sleep in her hammock every night; however, she never did either. She was always quite mellow and uninterested in toys, preferring instead to cuddle with her humans. This behaviour did not change at all during the time that we had her. The only indication that we ever had that anything was wrong was when she tried to fly across the room one day and didn’t seem to be able to maintain any height. We immediately took her to the vet, where she spent a couple days having a series of CT scans and other tests, costing us over $1300. She never made it home. We contacted Mick and Ann to let them know what happened. Mick mentioned that they had some other baby birds, but we weren’t ready to even think about that yet. A few weeks later, after we’d gotten a bit past the shock, we contacted Mick and Ann. We didn’t receive a response until over two weeks later, after we’d sent two different emails and left phone messages. We were informed that they refused to accept any responsibility, saying that their birds were healthy. The thing is that we were not seeking to place any blame. We can’t know exactly what caused her death, since she died before the cause was found. We were only looking for them to meet us somewhere in the middle. Instead, after we pointed that out to them, they just ghosted us. Let this be a warning. If nothing goes wrong, you will likely have a great experience. However, if something does go wrong, based on our experience, the blame will be placed solely on you. This is the real test of how good a seller is—how they respond when something has gone wrong, not how they respond when everything goes right.EDIT to respond to breeder's comments:You initially tried to blame us for Squidge’s death and now the avian vet (who you recommended), by taking them to the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria to claim wrongdoing. You now know that the Board dismissed your case, and nothing in the vet’s findings have changed.Your fake grief over what happened is a little insulting. The whole time, we were polite and respectful, but you ignored our messages, emails, and calls. The one time we did manage to get a response, it was full of denial and blame, followed by a complete lack of communication—which led us to leave this review.Our review stands. If you buy from Mick and Ann, you may have a great experience, if everything goes smoothly; but, if there are issues, our experience is that they’ll blame and ghost you, and they'll even resort to lodging official complaints at you and the vet you use.

Mick & Ann are two of the most dedicated bird people we have ever met and the time, effort, love and care they put into their birds is incredible. We have bought 2 birds from them, so far and cannot recommend them or their business enough to anyone. Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding, thank you :)

We find Ann & Mick most helpful with their advice and ideas in regard to care and feeding. They arrange for the birds to be delivered , supply food and equipment as needed and instruction on the care of the bird. They supply a One Stop Shop" for all you needs for the care of your pet bird. They follow through and keep in touch with the ongoing development of the bird.We are about to purchase our 5th bird from Pet Birds and I have no reason to look elsewhere

Dealing with Mick and Ann was an absolute pleasure. They went above and beyond making sure my partner and I were paired with the perfect cockateil! We absolutely adore our new addition. Thank you again!

I purchased a beautiful blue quaker parrot from Mick and Ann for my 10 year old grandson’s birthday. We had to wait a few months because of their breeding cycle and obviously the hand tearing, but oh my worth the wait. Lightening is such a delight, he is responsive to all of the family and is fully flighted. He ‘steps up’ on command and is so interactive with us all. I cannot recommend Mick and Ann highly enough for the presentation, delivery and backup service for their birds.

Mick and ann are brilliant! They provide great service and they're delivery work is great! Very helpful, and they're birds are lovely! You can really tell how much work they put into providing the birds with great lifestyles so they are all set up to go to their new homes! The birds are SUPER tame and are well trained. Great job! I got a pineapple conure a week ago. He is super friendly, will stick me around. Mick and Ann are really supportive when I got him at the beginning.
