42 Mile Campground
42 Mile Campground is a fantastic and easily accessible campground to stay in while you explore the Coorong National Park. Online bookings are easy and there is freedom to set up camp wherever you like as there are no numbered/specified ‘sites’ to be restricted by. Both 2WD and 4WD vehicles can access the campground easily, and there is plenty of space for even the largest caravans and RV’s. There is beach access by either a 1.5km walk or by 4WD via the sandy 42 Mile Crossing track. The drop toilets are regularly cleaned and quite sanitary, and there isn’t rubbish strewn across the grounds. Mobile phone reception is pretty good throughout the camp, with 1-3 bars of Optus 3G/4G possible depending on one’s position within the camp. While I don’t know for sure, it can be assumed that Telstra and Vodafone would be similar as they share the same masts/towers as Optus in this area. My only gripes with this place are that, at least in my experience, there may be campers, particularly during busy periods, who play loud music or make lots of noise late into the night. Additionally, while some may find the lack of shade in some of the camp areas a downside, those who use solar power will appreciate the abundance of sun. Overall a great campground; highly recommended.

42 Mile was probably one of the better places to camp, especially if you're keen to get some decent surf fishing in as 42 mile beach is the way to go while Tea Tree is closed. It's not the most private but the beach access is close with a 4WD and the wildlife is abundant. There are some more enclosed camping spots in the centre amongst the salt bush and we enjoyed being in there stargazing through the trees for the night. Didn't have the same litter issues as some of the other places reviewed. I'd definitely stay again.. just wish there were designated spots and allowances for small fires. That would have made all the difference! Worth mentioning too, keep an eye on the winds.. it definitely has an impact on your stay at the Coorong!

Great big and open campsite to spend the night. No set sites so its pick your patch of lawn and setup wherever you want!I really like sites like that.Plenty of kangaroos around the camp as well as rabbits and even a cat!The beach is probably a 10 minute walk or you can drive your car onto the beach.Beach is very soft so recommend dropping tire pressures to at least 15psi or not going down there via car if you haven't much experience beach driving. All in all great spot!

Very cool camp-site shame I had my doggo with me would of loved to stay here.Dog's are allowed on the surf Beach but must remain in the car from the Rd to the beach. The sand is so soft here recommended at least 15 psi to drive it with a 4wd.Beach was incredible but super crumbly

Cool little camp ground. Has a long drop and rain water tanks. Can be a bit dry and hot with not a lot of shelter so. Winter would be best but a great spot to get you onto the beach

Large site plenty of room for multiple caravans, RVs you name it, it will fit. 5 minute drive to the beach. And the Ocean Beach Camp slots. The best way to describe them is natural slots in the sand dune. 15 PSI in an AWD. First site North only.

Lovely place that host some friendly kangaroos and in the early morning we had 2 emu in our campsite. Only $15 overnight clean toilets and good unsealed road in good for big rihs we got our 26ft motorhome in no worries. Do not attempt to get to the beach without a 4WD. we saw 2 cars attempt and fail resulting in requiring to be winched out by some helpful fellows who were fishing the beach. The wetlands are spectacular and i spent a good hour flying a drone for some great early morning film and photos. Great place to explore and the birds and wildlife are great ro watch. Recommend stopping here with the family. Be wary of snakes in the warm weather.
