Ciao, Mate!
Great food! Service was just ok.The pasta was excellent, I need to learn how to make a sauce like that. The portion was good and saucy that you could scoop the sauce into them.The pizza was quite tasty but was more charred than I typically prefer.Plenty of parking around in Bangalow.Will be back when I visit Byron again.

Had a really great experience here. Romantic setting and lovely decor. Food was beautiful. Had the Moreton Bay Bug pasta, Greens Pizza and some starters. The bread was squishy and delicious. Service attentive.

Ciao, Mate!
I don’t recommend… It was a very disappointing dinner experience for us. Food is very very very overrated. I love Italian food so deeply and I had a chance to work with Italian chefs and eat and serve proper pizza and pasta for about 5 years, in Sydney and London and I have been looking forward to have a dinner at Ciao Mate from the start.. Pizza was totally burnt on the bottom and had no flavour at all. All I tasted was a burnt dough and fresh brown onion . After the first slice we didn’t want to eat, even tho we were hungry . Pasta was lacking flavour, it wasn’t even seasoned well, It was definitely much better than pizza but you wouldn’t ask for more for sure. Obviously the chefs they have no idea about Italian food. I’m sure it wasn’t like this when Matt Stone was in the kitchen … I’m so sad to be writing these, but you know that feeling when you go somewhere and eat bad food or let’s say ‘average food’ and it makes you unhappy… And I hope the food will get better there because it’s such a good spot. Ciao, Mate!
Service was exceptional! The staff and kitchen were very accomodating with allergies and made everything really easy. Not sure of our servers name (she was wearing a green and orange knitted collared shirt on the Friday night we came), she was so lovely and helpful - especially with dietary requirements and changing food around etc. Food was also very yum plus a great selection of wines and cocktails. Gorgeous vibe and setting - definitely a must!

Delicious food and incredibly kind service. The team squeezed us in last minute and gave us really great food and wine recos. The (?vegan) pasta was a standout - they only thing stopping me from ordering again is that they have an ever changing menu based on local ingredients. Would recommend to friends and will definitely visit again.

Ciao, Mate is a bloody beauty in Bangalow but most things attached with Matt Stone is gold and the food is sublime. Cocktails on point, service super friendly and great vibes. Will be back here for sure!

Absolute gem of a place. Went here with my partner (shes is in design and marketing and we are both foodies) and every little detail including the simple elegant authentic design of the place, the amazing customer service (very present but they give you space), the pizza bases were actually done exceptionally (its very hard for me to be satisfied with a restaurant pizza) and the flavours were really well balanced in the food. 6/5

Ate here twice whilst in Byron. Service was always quality and quick. Food is just outstanding. The vibe inside & out is truly unique and makes you feel like you've stepped into a movie. Feel good dining. love it!

I don't like whining about prices in reviews..we know what they are when we sign up...its like a soldier complaining they got shot after volunteering for war, understandable but futile. Here though, some prices are secret. And they are by coincidence the most aggregious. $34 pasta is a thing nowadays. I've been in awe since a tavola first sprung a $30+ pasta on me a decade ago...you got me a good one fellas! But that was for hand made pasta with a brilliant sauce. Here, $34 gets you well cooked, quality packet pasta, with a nondescript sauce, blandly under lemoned ricotta, a scarcity of pancetta that's not well rendered or caramelised, and almonds that are just stale...not the sauce softened them up" stale....stale stale. That's not to say it wasnt a gently pleasant pasta...just not a surprise price "never mind the price
