Book Review

Service without a smile. Came in with two small kids to buy them books about animals. Both of the elderly ladies I interacted with at the store were unpleasant. Either because they didn't like that I brought the little kids in or because that's their regular demeanor. My son was holding something he picked up off the shelf when one of them came past and grunted at him that he should put it back, proceeding to rip it out of his hands and putting it back on the shelf. I wanted to buy two books - would have been a total of $50-$70 of business for them but instead I walked out and will take my business elsewhere. I will never come back here. How this business survives with that kind of service in the age of online shopping is a mystery.

My family has been buying from this bookshop from around ten years. They always have what you want and if they don't they order and stock it with surprising speed. Great place.

THE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!!My friend and i went in to browse the book shop which was very empty and a lady had approached and said this store is not a library" whilst we were browsing. Ok i gave her the benefit of doubt

Needed to buy a gift. As always, the staff were incredibly helpful. The recipient of the gift I purchased was absolutely delighted with the choice. Thank you Book Review St Ives

Lovely staff however return policy of needing the “owner’s authorisation” who was conveniently unavailable to process a refund for an item purchased by mistake 10 minutes ago (on the same day) is a very poor customer service practice. I would strongly recommend taking your business to another local newsagent and avoiding this one.

very unfriendly staff. When my son was quietly sitting and reading one of the books from the shelf in an absolutely empty shop suddenly he was asked by one of personnel to leave the shop claiming this is not the library for reading. When I approached her asking the reasons for such a odd comments, she did not make any attempt to apology and decided to hide behind the counter. We use to buy books here in the past but never again, there are friendlier places around.

After debate about whether requested book existed (it did), paying for said book was an interesting experience. After my girlfriends debit card was declined AND my debit card was declined we politely pointed out that both of our accounts had ample funds in them and that maybe there was something wrong with the machine. The docket reading 3G connection lost" not "declined" should have been a tip off. Our objections were met with a sufficient amount of disgust.In a last ditch attempt to pay for the book we suggested maybe using a different EFTPOS machine.Hazaah! Transaction completed!No apology was forthcoming. Arrogant and rude comes to mind."

This is about customer service not the store itself. I was there to buy a puzzle as a gift for Father’s Day. It was clearly marked 24.99. So I take the puzzle up to pay. The lady with the hair (generally not a charmer) takes it rings it up and asks me for 29.99. I point out that it is marked 24.99 as are all the others in the same series and type. She shrugs and tells me it is wrong and she needs to change it. I wait expecting her to sell it to me for the marked price, because that is the law. They are obliged to sell something at the lowest visible marked price. Not her. I hand it back and walk away. Next day When I went by I checked the puzzles. She had removed the tags from every one of that particular puzzle. It now had no visible price. The rest were still marked 24.99.I walked away again.I won’t give my custom to that kind of place.
