Our experience with Civic Steel was one of professionalism, creativity, care and attention to detail.Architect Kelly delivered a deceptively simple and striking design that made the most of a challenging site in terms of engineering requirements. The entire build ran smoothly under the watchful eye of Alan and we moved in almost two months ahead of schedule.They listened to us and advised us wisely from the design stage to completion. Some close friends of mine had Civic Steel Homes build their dream home. They bought some land with a wonderful outlook and a simple list of wishes. The architect and team put together an incredibly impressive outcome that is hardly different to the very first sketch drawings. My friends found them to be very obliging and kept them informed throughout the build. I should probably mention that they built the house from over two hours drive away and would visit no more than once a month!! Their trust was certainly respected and they rave about their construction manager, Scott. Now they are in, they have found that the standard follow-up things have been handled efficiently and with no dramas. My friends said that the costs ended up on budget (actually below budget!) and the house was delivered weeks ahead of schedule.I will be talking to Civic Steel if I ever build!

We have had a great experience. We were so nervous because of some bad building experiences shared with us by friends and family.Ours was surprisingly simple given the complex nature of our site.Their architect listened to our crazy ideas and their project manager helped us control budget. As usual we wanted more than what our budget would allow but they came up with some clever solutions and what we have ended up with is just awesome.The couple of small issues that came up during construction were handled quickly and professionally while communicating constantly with us.We would like to thank the Civic Steel Homes team and we LOVE our new house!Sean, Jill, Tom and Kye

Civic Steel were very easy to build with and my husband and I are very happy living in our house.

We built our new home with Civic Steel homes and were so happy with the result. Our experience with the whole team was fantastic. Kirsten and Kelly were so great with every step of the design process. We started with some very vague ideas of what we wanted and through numerous conversations, email exchanges, and meetings on site and at their offices the design phase moved from preliminary sketches through to detailed plans including costings. This collaborative approach was invaluable in helping come up a with design that incorporated what suited our family's needs and was so much more than we could have envisioned from our initial ideas. This design phase included the building specifications and selection of all inclusions from exterior finishes to internal fixtures and fittings. Again the Civic team approach was incredible, including showroom visits to select tiles and carpets, and Kirsty's assistance in their own onsite design rooms with selections and samples for everything from bricks and colorbond, door handles, to taps, sinks and seemingly endless options for stone and laminate. Once all selections were complete Civic Steel Homes then provided a fixed price building contract which provided great peace of mind, though still provided us with some flexibility during the build. The process of the actual building of the home is a great testament to all the team involved with Civic. Our building manager, Alan, was an inspiration and by the completion of the project we had nothing but respect for his great organisational skills and his quick response to any issue or enquiry was definitely greatly appreciated. As the building process progressed we got to know pretty much everyone in the Civic team (building and admin) and their dedication and pride in achieving a high quality product specific for the individual client was evident throughout, including the fact that they all wanted to check out the finished product on handover day. We are now getting settled in and can't wait to enjoy many years with family and friends enjoying such a fantastic home. Thanks to all the team at Civic Steel Homes.

The initial experience with Civic was excellent. Kelly and Greg had lots of good ideas and were very helpful. The interior design crew was also very good. While everything was going well with the build, everyone was friendly. Over time I started to notice a lack of management of the site so I inspected more regularly(almost every day). I found that the plumbers were using scrap green and untreated packaging pine to mount taps and plumbing into the steel frame. The bricks were laid so poorly that they were more than 25mm out of plumb and alignment. I raised my concerns with Civic and was told that they couldn’t see a problem. It wasn’t until QBCC was contacted and they stated that the walls would be defected if they weren’t fixed. Several sections of the bricks had to be torn down and re-laid. The colour of the mortar changed 3 times and had to be rectified.Welds and bare cut steel was left untreated or painted until I requested for it to be coated.The plumbing was inadequate and the main shower was only a trickle, the pump had to be upgraded and higher pressure pump installed because the plumbing was inadequate.The centre island bench was too close to the fridge cavity, so Civic wanted me to pay for the relocation of the centre island bench or to have the fridge door removed so that the fridge could be installed (fridge was supplied by Civic!)Payments were requested for stages that weren’t complete.If you are contemplating Civic, I suggest ->Make sure that everything is in writing and that you inspect the build regularly. Do not back down on non-compliance issues and always remember the QBCC is there to assist when needed. Make sure you file the complaint, don’t let the builder do it.
