Great service from a genuine family business

Terrible communication, a series of various contractors, with little care for getting the job done effectively or on time. No follow through, then decide to not complete the job when it got too hard.

Expensive, with numerous delays throughout the project and in the end did not return calls to complete the project. The plastering work was rushed, poorly finished off and the topcoat partially came off when painted. While it appears the rising damp issue has been resolved, I had to engage another contractor to clean up the incomplete and poor workmanship.

High quality of work, but relatively poor communication and organisation. Ultimately they did a really good job of damp proofing and adding sub-floor ventilation, although it took a lot of involvement and checking in on my behalf to make sure the job was actually completed.After removing the plaster and doing the damp proofing, all of the building waste was left sitting on our veranda for a couple of weeks and it took quite a few phone calls to have it removed, even though we had been invoiced for waste removal.We were quoted to have 3 sub-floor vents drilled through our blue stone foundations. One of the vents was drilled 9 meters away from where it needed to go in a completely different section of the house. They had a contractor come back a few days later to re-drill it in the correct spot at no extra cost.The plasterer was supposed to come back 2 weeks after the damp proofing had been completed, a few weeks later and no communication from FG James the re-plastering still hadn't been done. After multiple phone calls the plasterer came back 5 weeks later.We were quoted to have skirting boards replaced but that seemed to have been forgotten about and we ended up getting our own contractor to replace the skirts. FG James didn't invoice us for this work but it was an additional hassle to organise a separate person to complete the job.This finished product is really good, although the whole process took a lot longer than initially indicated.

I have used this company several times and they have delivered each time beyond my expectations with care and professionalism.

I had a great conversations with Justin regarding the booking time of the appointment and what works may be required to my moister problem. I left my phone number with him and was excited that someone might be able to fix my problem.Unfortunately I was 15 minutes late to the initial appointment and found a card in my door suggesting Greg (the technician) had been and gone. I admit I should have called to suggest I was going to be late but I also did not receive a call from Greg asking where I may be.After calling Greg he suggested that my lateness was a direct relation to people that are tyre kickers and that I was wasting his time. He was rude and sounded unhappy that I even called him. I then called Justin who told me he was the owner! In no uncertain terms I told Justine what I though about Greg and he hung up. Not a great experience!

Super helpful. We needed some advice around a property we were thinking of purchasing, Justin read our email and took the time to provide invaluable feedback even though we never ended up purchasing the property. If we had then we would absolutely have hired F.G James. Thanks again

I rushed home from work to meet Greg. I politely asked him to remove his shoes before entering my house because my wife has very bad asthma. He refused and left.Rude and unprofessional. Definitely not recommended.
