Blickinstal Barossa Valley Retreat

Nice and cute. Dirt road to get to it was the biggest issue, which hadn't been graded recently so was pretty rutted

Mattresses hard. Place was dirty. Heaters not working properly. Got placed in the 'reception' house to stay so had people knocking on the door for information. Could have spare blankets as being winter it was freezing. 1 slice of bread each for breakfast. The views were lovely. Really needs upgrading.

Very quiet, nice cosy view from the front door and window, next to the vine yard, chickens and lots of birds life.Inside is big enough for 2 adults. Bed was very comfortable. Not soft not hard. Elec blanket kept us warm in bed. Had a good sleep. Little kitchen helped our meal.Little breakfast was prepared for us. That was really kind.Wish we could stay more nights.I'm sorry we slipped our hands and broke one mug.

Loved this place! The facilities were clean and in working order, the bed was comfortable, and th spa bath is a nice touch. The location is good if you're exploring the Barossa, and it was nice to go for a walk around the vineyard as the sun set.

DON'T BOTHER. We booked 2 months in advance and less than a week out they cancelled the booking on us (we received the email when sitting at the airport on our way from Perth to Adelaide) with an excuse that they had over booked but when you looked online the accommodation was still available for the original dates. After managing to find more accommodation at short notice we had a great time in the Barossa but a few of the locals said they had heard this happening quite a bit with Blickinstal Retreat. So I wouldn't take the risk.

The place looked run down. Gardens were in disarray . Reception unattended in spite of the booking agents advice that 9-5 were office hours. All communication was by text only. Keys were in a 'safe' attached outside the room, which in spite of entering the code given, would not open until I used a pair of nail scissors to pry it loose.The room looked well kept, clean, and well presented at first sight. Clean linen, towels etc., but the bedside lights didn't work.I discovered they weren't even connected and behind the beds was a shambles of connecting boxes and wires. Once I fixed that by plugging the leads in and rebooting the power boards, we found that the TV also didn't work. It had power due to my interventions but no signal. Now you might wonder why we were worried about TV in the Barossa, but it was raining and very cold and there wasn't much else we could do at 4 pm.Closer inspection revealed heavy dust coatings on bedside tables, behind the bed (while fixing wiring), window sills and other surfaces.The BBQs, thoughtfully provided, were too filthy to use.On a positive note, the items provided for a breakfast, which included bread, eggs, tomatoes and cereal packets, with milk and fruit juice, were above the usual standard of simple tea and coffee packets. This was thoughtful and appreciated.This place needs some love" people."

Blickinstal had a change of ownership/management, and I'd stay well clear now. Although well rated, read the more recent reviews since the change of ownership.We had a gift voucher to stay at the accomadation and phoned in Aug 22 to book a weekend in Sept 22. There was significant back and fourth trying to validate the voucher with the current owners. However one major flaw of the companies operation is the lack of communication with the front of house staff" and anyone who has any power to make a decision. Staff will refuse to provide a managers contact details to resolve issues and instead a one way flow of communication from the customer through the front of house staff to management occurs.After months of chasing up and repeatedly providing the same information time and time again

Great location with beautiful views and all amenities and facilities close to property. Friendly staff had early check in loved the spa in room. Quiet romantic place to stay and get away to relax.

This location is excellent. I arrived and was able to check into my room at midday which was perfect and allowed me to go out and enjoy the rest of my afternoon without worrying about dropping off my luggage.The room was very nice and contained a well stocked fridge with food and drinks for my stay. The vineyard was really nice to walk around in the morning also. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

There was miscommunication from the start to which unit we were staying in. I had been assured that the hardness of the beds was being addressed prior to our arrival which did not happen. I would not recommend this place. The cleaning staff were very helpful and tried to address our issues.
