Adventure Freedivers

I just did my beginner Freedive course through Adventure Freedivers with Max.It was awesome!I have been trying to freedive recreationally and spearfish with friends for about 12 years and thought that self teaching would be fine.It turns out freediving is one of the less intuitive activities out there. Having Max explain and coach me through all of my bad habits was probably harder than learning it from scratch but worked really well.I wish I had done a course like this much earlier in life.While these guys are usually booked out, they managed to fit me in with one weeks notice.We had a small class, plenty of high quality instruction, with lots of time to work on specific techniques.I did the pre course learning that was sent out via email, which was full of good videos and an exam that made me visit all the important sections in the freedive manual that was provided. Took me about 3 hours, but mostly because I kept reading all the other sections and found it well written and easy to be immersed in.So what gains did I see?Firstly I added 60 seconds to my static breath hold, face underwater but relaxed.My finning technique improved, going further and faster for the same effort.My duck dive was worked on. It gave me around 4-5 extra free meters at the hardest part of the dive.I dived deeper than I had before, thanks to Max teaching me interesting ways to equalise when deeper.I learned how far to push myself, in what situations.And what I have been most interested in, I learned how to then practiced saving my dive buddy from several different types of emergencies. I now feel like I would be useful if something ever went wrong.10/10 - Highly recommend for everyone

Max and Rex were the ultimate free-diving duo and together they made such a kick-arse and powerful team. Sometimes we get caught up in numbers and measurements when we have new goals, however Max and Rex were so purposeful when introducing us to free-diving as they focussed on our enjoyment of the water and the process. I feel like this created such a safe and encouraging space to learn as we listened to our bodies rather than reaching for numbers. It was so inspiring to see each of their connections with the ocean as their passion was so obvious as they shared their knowledge with us. Max and Rex’s approach to diving not only covered the theory and practicality of diving, they taught us how to calm our mind and body, something I found essential every time I went below the surface. I highly recommend jumping on board with Adventure Freedivers if you want an a fun, supportive, and calm yet organised diving experience.

Max is an incredible instructor, I have always felt comfortable and supported by her calming and encouraging presence in and out of the water. Highly recommend Adventure Freedivers to do a dive course first time or to improve your diving!

Maxine is a first class instructor with all the experience anyone would need for their Freediving journey from beginner to advanced I could not recommend her high enough. You can’t go wrong training and learning with adventure freedivers

Highly recommend anyone to kickstart their learning with Adventure Freedivers.I started learning freediving this year and was lucky enough to do my course with Adventure Freedivers. My instructor Maxine was very helpful, knowledgeable and patient in assisting me to build up my skills. Most importantly, safety is always taken seriously during the training sessions, so you can always feel at ease with a peace of mind.

I had the opportunity to spend 10 amazing days at sea with Adventure Freedivers for my Molchanovs instructor course. Maxine made it such an amazing experience with her acute Freediving knowledge she is always keen on sharing, good banter and great attitude. If you are looking at learning to Freedive from an amazing instructor don’t search any further!

I did my Wave 1 course with Max and I cant recommend enough. The whole process was 10/10. The emphasis on safety was a big positive for me and the wealth of knowledge Max had was incredibly encoraging. I had a great time and learnt lots and will continue to put everything i learnt to use.

Instructor Maxine was awesome, her extensive knowledge and experience was incredible, along with her passion and skill for teaching. Her tips tricks, infinite patience and kindness made learning to freedive a joy, and I came away diving to depths beyond my expectations, and armed with techniques in breathing and relaxation that have resonated across all of my daily activites.
