The Cassowary Restaurant
The cassowary restaurant was a stand out! We had both breakfast and dinner on a number of occasions and both of us were very impressed by the service, food quality and value. For dinner we shared the platter on both occasions and could not get over the quality of the meat. Our only disappointment was that we were not staying another night to just order the kangaroo as a stand alone dish as we loved it so much on the platter.Highly recommend this place!

Very disappointed in the Wednesday Pasta night. A bowl of over cooked pasta with a mix of veggies and store bought Pesto sauce on top, chef didn't even bother to mix it together. No parmesan in sight. Only reason we ate here was we had a wildlife night tour that started from the hotel. Won't make that mistake again.A real shame as the venue looks really nice and well laid out, although hasn't had a clean in while.

I have to edit the review after our second visit (August 2022) to reflect the current quality.-Steak ordered rare but arrived well done. We did receive a new one but it's cold in the middle...After meal we ordered dessert and coffee, coffee arrived instantly while the dessert took 45 min. And the coffee definitely is not an espresso like they stated on the menu, tasteless. Apple pie looks totally different than the picture.-Below is the review of our first visit in May 2021 (3 stars was given):Friendly staff and nice venue.We ordered the Grilled Barramundi but it turns out to be fried, so it’s basically fish & chips with salad. Good size and taste alright, just a bit pricey ($28) for a fish & chips.

The amount two of us ate and drank for the $100 mark was amazing.. But that's not even the best part, well priced is only half the story.Staff are exceptionally friendly, they were keen to make sure everything was perfect which it was.Trio of dips is great, someone can cook bread to perfection, loved the Olive dip.The seafood platter for 2 was outstanding, the Chef can cook everything to perfection, I hope they are looked after well. It's about 2 feet long and the very large portion of fish was so nice, crunchy skin and tender flesh. Calamari isn't some frozen rings but beautiful large cuts. Steak, wow. Kangaroo yum. They even peeled the prawns.Going back for breakfast in an hour, exciting.

Food is nice and well presented. There is limited choice though, which is understandable being in a remote location.Two nights that we went as we were staying at the resortpasta night , which wasn't on.Pizza night - again not on.Kids menu basic, but staff were happy to accommodate fussy eaters.

Beautiful location and gorgeous wooden building with the option to sit inside or outside. I recommend the Aussie tasting platter! So worth it and perfect for two people.

Stayed at Ferntree for 3 nights. Breakfast and Dinner menus were excellent, food was well prepared and presented. Barramundi tasted amazing. Staff were very friendly and happy to help and chat. Only issue was inconsistencies with content of fruit muesli bowl-ordered twice very different content on 2nd bowl and not value for money.

The food here was amazing, the platter for two was more than enough and tasted amazing.The staff were also very catering to dietary requirements!Definitely recommend trying.

INCREDIBLE.... Out in wilderness and here's this incredible menu, wine list, breakfast, coffee etc, great music/atmosphere, pool table, friendly waitress. I ate here for dinner last night and breakfast this morning. Really enjoyed and relaxed. Booking is essential.Located inside Ferntree Rainforest Hotel.

We stayed at the resort last Thursday and since it was Pizza night we ordered take aways. We ordered 2x Margarita with added meat, since they had no meatlovers option at all.First we got totally wrong pizzas so took them back and waited again. No actual apology from the girl that messed up our order in the first place. We waited and got second lot which were burned. We checked the pizzas right there, the lady serving saw how burned they were and literally said 'Oh they are a bit crispy'. Again no apology or solution offered.We also paid more than we should have which was $48 for 2 pizzas due to the first entered incorrectly order.At no point were we offered a refund, or at least the money back we overpaid due to staff entering wrong order.We were starving at that point and could not be bothered arguing or sending pizzas back again and we didn't know were else to get food at that point so we took pizzas and were left very disappointed.
