Belconnen Transmission

Found these guys on the NRMA website for recommended providers. Was very happy with the service. The guy who runs the place, Phil, told me exactly what he was going to do to my car to diagnose the problem. After testing was complete, he spent a lot of time explaining in great detail what he believed was the issue and why. A very professionally run shop by very knowledgeable mechanics.4 stars because the receptionist told me to bring my car in first thing in the morn then told me it wouldn't be seen till the afternoon. Gave me a bit of a problem coming from the other side of town.

Bought a second hand car which had a slipping auto transmission. Checked the fluids and found it was overfilled (probably an attempt by the previous owner to solve the slipping issue). Took it to Belconnen Transmission, explained the issues and asked for them to drain the excess oil and take a quick look to see what needed to be done to resolve.$150 later I've got a 15 point transmission check where all it says is transmission slipping so ended test" with no suggestion as to what to do next AND the fluid wasn't even drained. When I called up to ask what was going on I copped an earful of abuse from whom I assume was the wife of the owner. I spoke calmly and professionally throughout the entire ordeal trying to calm the situation but trying to find out why the work wasn't carried out and I was basically told to get stuffed.I would avoid this place like the plague."

I've been coming to Phil at Belco Transmission for about two years and have always found him professional and very thorough. He's the type of mechanic who leaves no stone or bolt unturned in his quest to get to the bottom of a problem. Highly recommended.
